Abhishek Raghav's Review On IIT Jodhpur - Indian Institute Of Technology - [IITJ], Jodhpur

First of all, it is an IIT, a premium institute of our country. And out of all other IITs I chose this because I was interested in Computer Science and Engineering and for my rank (2684), this was the best possible IIT I could get.

The curriculum has been revised for 2019 admission batch onwards. The curriculum is good, providing us enough exposure to industrial knowledge. We can also opt for upto 6 design credits by participating in hackathons, robocon and other technical competitions. The faculties are very traditional in teaching.

There are mainly job opportunities in IT sectors. The placement is not good for branches like mechanical. Companies like Microsoft and Amazon visit the campus every year. Alumni networking is very strong (I am talking only about CSE and IT field). It is very easy to get a referral from them. They are placed in many good companies. Kuku FM is a famous startup by our alumnis. They were featured in Forbes 30 under 30 Asia list for 2020 under the category "media".

For the first time we had our technical fest Prometeo in January'2020. Earlier, it used to be Nimble, which was intra-college only. It was a great success, with participants coming from various colleges. Also, many speakers were invited from tech giants like NVIDIA, Adobe, Swiggy and many more. Also, Google India CEO had a video call talk with us. In cultural, we have Ignus, one of the largest socio-cultural fest of Asia. Many celebrities like Benny Dayal, DJ Rhea, Papon have performed this fest. Many participants come here from all over India. Also, we have an intra-cultural fest Spandan, which is the competition between hostels. For sports, we have Varchas as a grand fest, and also Kreedansh for inter hostel. There are a total of 52 clubs running under 7 different societies in the Student's Gymkhana. We usually have seminars and workshops conducted by seniors in the club, where juniors get to learn many different things.

The campus is currently under construction, having its target year of completion 2035. This duration might sound too much but considering the fact it has an area of 852 acres, the third largest IIT campus, 2035 seems reasonable. Although it is under construction, still it is in a good position. The hostels are very good, with every student being provided single room with AC, and also free WiFi 24x7. The sports facilities are good for football, lawn tennis and basketball. A big sports complex is under construction currently.

There is also a compound in the middle of the hostel, where there is a badminton court. Also, every hostel has 2 security guards all the time to ensure safety of students. Also, there are separate hostels for girls also within the campus itself.
