Anonymous's Review On DRIEMS University, Cuttack

The feasible fee structure and the location of the college away from the chaos of the city drove me here. I opted for this course as for my interest is in coding. I couldn't make it in JEE(85 perc) and my financial status wasn't good. So I found this a decent one.

The college has now been granted autonomous status. Exams are conducted fairly and labs are okay. However, the college lack exposure to the competitive world and they confine their students to the course curriculum only. Faculties are well educated. +ve : Mr. Sachidananda Samal(EnTC) is the best professor I've ever come across. The principal is very supportive. -ve: The HOD of the CSE department is way busier in the admission cell and does not care about his syllabus which is a major downfall. He hasn't ever completed the syllabus as per seniors from whom I've heard. You have to opt for the external course as the major basics will never be completed by him. Most of the teachers do not understand basic Hindi and their English is pathetic. This is a major problem for students from outer states.

Some good companies visit this college like TCS and TechMahindra.However least students are selected as the number of skilled students they produce is very less. They do not felicitate alumni so we don't know about them.

Campus life was not like everyone dreamed of. They are too much insecure regarding girls. The two major functions are Freshers and Vasantika and both did not happen during my time. We were not given a fresher's party(which is so basic) and no teacher bothered about that. Extracurricular activities happen around you just need to be skilled enough to participate. However, campus life is worst here. Everyone dreams of a cool campus life that you won't get here. So better for another college which keeps a balance of all stuff.

The infrastructure is good. Lots of greenery on campus but the weather here is most of the time humid. There is nothing called free Wi-Fi on campus(Yes I know it's hilarious as it is a basic necessity). The medical facility is the worst. Believe me, they took me to a local doctor who didn't have a thermometer. The library is the coolest part however it's very far from the main building so we avoid going there. Some labs are located too far from the main building and there is a transportation facility. The sports complex is good but girls are not allowed there.

Hostels are the worst part. Below average infrastructure and the superintendent was too biased. She must be replaced. Lots of absurd restrictions which will leave your mind boggled. First-year girls can't wear jeans and tops, always have to wear a Kurti with a dupatta, can't even go out to buy a packet of chips, always wish your seniors and lot of mental torture from some specific evil seniors (indirect ragging) and if you complain nothing is gonna happen it will just pile up against you. They call these so-called rules of the hostel. This hostel part basically ruined my entire College life. The food in the mess is okay. However, we found some insects in the food for which no action was taken.
