Pros and cons: MIT CFT became an autonomous body in the year 2016 after years of affiliation with Pune University for Bachelor's of Food Technology. Beautiful campus. Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

As a next choice to medical being a PCB stream student thought that my options were limited to agriculture. But looking into agriculture I came across food technology which drew my attention to its job responsibilities which I found really attractive. Searching for best facilities for the same course I came across MIT CFT where it's first batch as an autonomous body was to be inaugurated where I applied to be a part of. MIT campus is filled with positive vibes with the beauty and scenery that captures mind at once. Students are five times the population of faculties. Faculties are mostly PhD scholars with years of experience in teaching and bringing up the best in students. Research based equipments though limited the best support through available resources are provided to the students. Exams are conducted twice as major terms mid term and end term along with many minors as weekly, surprise and monthly evaluation. Theory and practicals are conducted separately. Exams are not tough.

Internships Opportunities

5

Internship details: Research based: DRDO DFRL Mysore Complete project within 6 months duration with an allotment of mentor is provided with no stipend but rich experience. MNC: Nestle/Amul/Cadbury/Heinz/Coca-cola/Mapro: Rotation among different departments in these MNCs provided with hands on experience in various fields. Management and leadership qualities enriching experiences are provided. Stipend is provided by local manufacturers and companies with maximum RS 4000/-per month.

Placement Experience

3

Being a graduate of 2020 by grace of corona created havoc my batch didn't get the privilege to get college based placements. But the companies that preferred to place the students of our college are Nestle, Cadbury, Britannia, Morde, Sula vineyard, Mala, etc. The highest package attained by college based placed students are RS 264000/- per annum. After getting my BTech degree I'm planning to prepare to study MS abroad specialization in nutrition/food safety/ food security.

Fees and Financial Aid

Starting for the first batch of mine, 65000/- was the fees for the first semester which after hike policy elevated every semester finally reaching upto 1,30,000/- during the final semester. Scholarships are limited in options for this university. But in consideration with the financial situations of students support for installment payments for the fee is provided. Food technology course in fourth year has a program for 6 months internship which opens gates for the corporate world for students. I got an opportunity through college merit based to complete my research based internship through DRDO DFRL Mysore. This opportunity when grabbed properly fills the gap of experience to enter the society in the next turn.

Campus Life

4.5

One of the biggest fests in Pune organized by MIT ADT University. Esteemed presence of well know professionals of art, culture, academics, sport and orators are blessed often under the shadow of different events conducted periodically by campus. This is the best method of learning from experienced in our own fields. College of food Technology is well equipped with books of famous authors from different related fields. Projector based lectures are conducted mostly. With the management and involvement in organizing these events through different teams brushes up our leadership and management skills. University holds one of the top state sports meet Vishwanath sports meet which provides platform to all the indoor and outdoor game specialized individuals to showcase their skills and outshine in their fields of interest. As a volunteering and humanitarian ground based act, smile social club was introduced by students which spreads awareness and acts in favour of public in need.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

For the first year I lived in hostel. The facilities were supreme with two beds in a room, attached washroom, mess in the ground floor. Location of hostel was pleasant, in front of lake in campus. Which at times could be challenging due to lack of waste disposal management specially during the times of Ganesh Chaturthi. Food in mess is typical maharashtrian healthy meal based diet with special cuisines on special occasions like public festivals. During vacations too with the consideration of accommodation Meals are provided to the students who by any reason need to extend their stay in hostel.

Other Applied Colleges

Placement Experience:

The college has a dedicated Training and Placement(T&P) cell and has regular recruitment drives that work to place students in companies where they will be values highly. Each year, 600-700 students are placed from all the branches. More than 300+ companies visit but the ones that hire are limited such as TCS, Capgemini, Infosys, Tech Mahindra which generally are mass recruiters that look for employees that will work for 3LPA or 4.5LPA. The highest packages go to about 30 to 40 LPA domestic and 61 LPA foreign but it is very rare to get a placement like this and requries considerable effort on the side of the student as well. Average package is 7 LPA for CS/IT branch; 5 LPA for electronics and telecommunications branch; 4 LPA for mechanical. My plan after getting the degree is working for 1-2 years while simultaneously pursuing masters.
