Remarks

I pursued MSc. in Physics in University of Hyderabad. The faculties here are experienced in their respective fields and also they interact well with the students. Also another reason I opted for MSc. here is due to the serene green campus the University offers and an opportunity to mix with people from diverse backgrounds.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is well updated according to CSIR NET exam. As I pursued MSc. in Physics more focus is given in solving problems. It is a very good way to make the students prepare for exams like CSIR NET, TIFR, GATE, JEST etc. The lab facilities was also good and equipped with recent equipments. For MSc. specialized topics students can choose from a range of subjects in the field they are interested. I can name many faculties who were really experienced like Dr. Ashok Chatterjee, Dr. Seshu bai Vummethala, Dr. Anantha Lakshmi Pochincherla etc. All the teachers are devoted towards their work.

Placement Experience

3.5

There are ample job opportunities after the completion of the course. Companies like TCS, Deloitte etc visit each year. There is a placement cell that coordinates all these placement works. Each year a lot of students get placed. Several coaching Institutes also visit each year.

College Events

4.5

There are numerous cultural and sports activities that takes place in the campus. Like the annual ceremony Sukoon that takes place every year. Also students from different communities celebrate in their own way. Cultural programmes like Porichiti, Keraleeyam, NE festival is celebrated every year. Also Knight cup for cricket and football is held each semester. Students participate in all of them actively.

Fees and Financial Aid

The University offers 1000 rupess every month to the economically backward students as a scholarship. Also the University offers a health insurance of about 1 lac per year to every student. Students can avail the insurance if they are admitted to any private hospitals for any reason.

Campus Life

Starting with the sports facilities, the campus has two fitness centers. One is in the north campus. It is equipped with four indoor badminton courts, table tennis tops, running and exercise machines and dumbells and barbells of varied weights. Also near this gymnasium there is a playground where students play football, cricket, volleyball or practice long jump. Another fitness center is near yoga center. Only female students are allowed there. Every hostel and school is equipped with fast wifi. There is a centralized library which is known by Indira Gandhi central Library. It is a huge library and it stores books of all departments. It is also equipped with wifi. There is also a reading room near the library which is open 24 hours. The lab facilities was also good and equipped with recent equipments.

Hostel Facilities

I stayed in MH-G and MH-H. All the boys hostels in north campus except MH-H are a bit old. The rooms also seem a bit old. But all the hostels are equipped with fast wifi. The average hostel fees for each semester is about 500 rupees. Every student is asked whether they need hostel during their admission. All the students get hostel facilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is good as of now. But can change a little bit becuase in 4 years we will have 8 sems and 40 subjects. Subjects should be divided in such a way that it should not get burden on the students. In some sems they will just 4 or 3 subjects that will effect other sems by having 7or 8 subjects at a time. That is really tough to clear all subjects at a time that may leave pressure on the students. And another suggestion in teaching methods was therotical class and practical class has to be done parallelly because if theory classes of particular topic has been completed in this week and pratical classes of that particular topic will be executed in some other week lab sessions. That may create confusion in students and there might get forgot what they have learnt in that week. If the theory and practical classes happened parallely they will gain hands on experience on how the things will work and they can understand more better.
