Remarks
The best thing about IIT Bombay was the liberty and exposure it provided to the students. Right from academics and research to a plethora of extracurricular activities. It allowed you to pursue careers in fields one could not even think of before joining college. I have friends from college, who today are pursuing research as Ph.D. students and at some very good core companies, and at the same time, some are among very good athletes & actors. Also, in spite of a gender ratio of 10:1, you can always find boys and girls working together towards common interests.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course Curriculum is generally a bit outdated but still much ahead than the rest of colleges in India. Academics is okay, I say this because the professors don't inspire you to take academics as something you love and they are rather more interested in their own research. But having said that, if you are determined enough to pursue it, it's like no place else. You get some of the best mentorship and facilities to work with.
Placement Experience
1st job from campus is more of a hit and trial. But yes 1-2 years down the lane and later, the alumni network definitely helps to allow you to go for better opportunities. Obviously, you need to crack the interview and there is no leeway there but yes it can get you a chance.
College Events
Campus life is amazing. It's all like an extended family at the campus. You have nuclear families like roommates/wingmates, then you have clubs/groups/academic batch. And these are all connected some way or the other.
Fees and Financial Aid
Alumni association helps with loans to the student in need at very low rates. So would suggest checking this option out before looking for other means. Apart from this, there are 2 banks, SBI and Canara bank, on-campus that provide student loans.
