Remarks
IWST comes under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education of the Ministry of Environment and Forest of the Government of India. It is the top institute for research in wood science and forestry and I am proud to be a part of it.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum first consists of a few lectures on wood science and scientific research, after that you are left free to determine the course and pace of your research, and attend laboratory sessions and workshops.
Placement Experience
The institute does not provide placements as such, it is totally dedicated to research in wood science and technology. But it does announce regular vacancies for researchers and you can apply for that after the completion of your doctorate.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee is about nine thousand rupees (9,000) rupees per semester, which is entirely for the maintenance of the infrastructure there is no tuition fee, or added expense. The fee structure is affordable.
Campus Life
The institute focuses on providing quality infrastructure to promote and facilitate research. It has various laboratories and libraries. There are regular seminars and workshops, apart from field visits and presentations.
Admission
The admission goes through multiple stages. First you have to fill the application form, then appear for an entrance exam. If selected after the exam, you will have to submit a research synopsis which will be discussed in a meeting and if approved, you will be selected for admission.
Faculty
The faculty consists of specialists, scientists and researchers. They are dedicated and diligent professionals, they are approachable and helpful in all the solutions to problems and guidance we need in our research.
