IISS-ICFRE is the leading institute for wood science research and has done pathbreaking research in sandalwood. The admissions are difficult, and once you are here you are going to learn skills that you will not learn anywhere else.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is designed to give basic information about scientific research in wood sciences; there are very few mandatory lectures. The normal research period is of five years, which is followed by the submission of the research thesis.
Placement Experience
The institute does not have a placement or career development cell as such though it provides world class training and adds professional skills and competence, thereby improving your employability.
Fee Structure And Facilities
At the time of registration, you have to pay twenty one thousand rupees (21,000) and thereon every year you pay about nine thousand rupees (9,000) which is affordable. This does not include the accommodation charges.
Campus Life
The extracurricular activities are limited to research and its related areas. There are many seminars and workshops within and outside the college that we attend regularly. The institution has labs with sophisticated modern equipment, libraries, guest house, and other facilities.
Admission
Every year IWST invites applications for PhD program, and you can apply if you have qualified UGC-NET and have a post-graduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Paper Technology. The entrance exam is of 200 marks which is followed by an evaluation of the submitted research proposal.
