Overall a Good Experience

I had a great experience spending my 2yrs in the college. The management is doing good but there are still some parts of it which can still be improved. So much of funds are allocated and i think they are not effectively spent to improve the college infrastructure or campus.

I wrote TANCET exam which is direct entrance examination for Masters in Anna University and its affiliated colleges. In this i scored 55, for which i got M.Tech IT in CEG, Guindy. I had GATE score with 94 percentile. I can get some branch in NIT Suratkal, Anna University but i was interested to do Masters VLSI, Embedded or Computers. Since that score did not fetch me any seat in my interest subject, i wrote TANCET and joined Anna University.

Course was really good. It has all the advanced concepts of Database, Operating Systems, Statistical Theory, Java Programming. The course was designed in such a way that you will not get time to relax :)It was a Joke but truly it will be little hectic. Keep reading everyday so that it will not pile up till the end. Advanced OS and Advanced Database Concepts, Statistical Theory and Operational research are very interesting.

For Graduate students there are close to 300 companies. We have got close to 70 companies who offered placements for Post Graduates. My class strength is 25 and we all got placed by the end of our second year. Very few of us got placed in Dream Jobs for which they offered 4.5L. Most of us(~12) placed in TCS which was the first company to recruit in 2008 in CEG, Guindy.

The best and most famous event that happens in Anna University is Kuruksetra. Dancing competition was awesome. People come from all parts of India and participate in this. Finally the movie "Pokkiri" played in the middle of the university campus. It was amazing watching in the outdoor with all the friends and colleagues.

Fee is better than any other college, Mine was payment seat for which i have paid close to ~2Lakhs for the course and other exam expenses. Remember this amount is paid for my 2years of PG course. If you get a seat in any of the aided courses, you will pay close to 65K for this 2years of PG course. Also you will get stipend based on your GATE score. I think this is the cheapest fee structure compared to any other Deemed College.

There was loan offered on day one. Most of the banks have opened counters outside in the entrance of the college. You can talk to them and get the loan. I did not take any loan as my father had enough money to meet my expenses.

It will be a wonderful experience overall. You will definitely be connected with some of the professor who will guide you and nurture you to reach the pinnacles. There are opportunities for being part of extra curricular activities which you will have to go and talk to the concerned department. If you are proactive enough then you can explore more in the campus and make the best of your stay in the college.

This is one of the big minus point in CEG, Guindy campus. No hostel for Post Gradute students. For some reason they have stopped providing hostel for PG students long time back. I had to struggle everyday standing in the bus/train and reach the College. I lost my mobile also once in the bus. For people who are new to the City, it would be better to stay with relatives for few days and know the city well. Find a better place to live and then move out with some friends.

Seniors were really helpful in understanding the course structure. They can guide you in library access, professor approaching techniques. You can also get guidance from them interms of finding the best place to stay in the City for better commute.

25% of marks will be internals which will be taken average from 3 or 4 internal tests conducted every month. Subject teacher will decide on what date should the exam be conducted based on the course completion progress. It will be very hectic and you days will pass with most of the time reading in the library. Also you will have time to have fun in the college with friends.You can go play indoor/outdoor games for which all the infrastructure will be available.

I have seen some of the best faculty in this college. They always try to motivate the students to do self learning and encourage to do more of research rather than just read the books. It was a great learning experience with some of the staff members. I do find some of the faculty who are there just to complete their Ph.D but that can be overlooked.
