Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum focuses to impart education in streams such as arts, humanities, engineering, environmental studies etc which are used to study the aspects of agriculture industry. The duration of the course is five years, divided into ten semesters. The subjects include basic design & visual arts, building construction, model making & workshop, theory of structures, architectural design, contracts & specifications etc. We also undergo practical training so that our skills are refined more and we can plan the structures of different cities accordingly.
Placement Experience
Companies such as Oscar & Ponni architects, Architect Hafeez contractor, TATA, Birla, GMR group, C.P kukreja associates, Jindals, DLF etc visit our college campus every year and recruit students for the roles of interior designer, architectural engineer, building contractor, landscape architect, architect historian and many more. The highest package offered by TATA was 21 lpa for the role of architectural engineer. The average ranges from 4 to 6 lpa. Internships in areas such as urban development organisation, housing boards, city development are also provided.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees for one year is 40,000 and for the NRI students it is 80,000 p.a. Hostel and mess charges are to be paid separately along with hostel caution deposit amount of 2,500 at the start of every semester. The fee structure is pretty decent if I compare the placement opportunities in this college with the other big institutions of the country.
Fees and Financial Aid
Merit based scholarship are available to those who have scored 90% marks in the current semester. Those students who have family income of less than 5 lpa given 50% fee concession as prescribed by the university norms. Seats are also reserved for the SC/ST/OBC category.
Campus Life
Workshops on city development, project management, architectural design, theory of design etc are held from time to time which gives the students more exposure to the course. National cultural festivals like republic day, holi, diwali, basant panchmi, Gandhi jayanti, Independence day, bihu, onam celebration, Christmas day are also conducted by the student council. Inter college sports tournaments in games like chess, football, basketball, badminton, kabbadi, hockey etc are done to encourage students in more participation.
Admission
the students need to score 50% marks in physics, mathematics and chemistry and also 50% overall to seek admission in this course. Other than that you need to give a aptitude test in architecture field or NATA exam. The selection is strictly done on the combined scores of 12th and scores obtained in the online test. Interview round will be conducted if you clear the cut off and your name appears in the merit list of the college. Based on the rank you will be given admission in the course( that you are seeking admission in).
Faculty
The principal of our college Mr. M.D Devadas have 33+ years of experience in research and training field and provide us with quality information about the architecture field. The teachers of out department tell us about the involvement of architecture in sectors like housing, city planning, archaeology etc so that we subject can blind us together. Overall I would rate the faculty members and their teaching methodology 4/5.
