Remarks

My experience at the Madras University Distance Learning has been satisfying. I recommend the University if one wants to continue studying without leaving their home town for personal reasons. However, there might be a certain inconvenience when it comes to contacting the University by calling as there might be some problems in the administration and management. Nonetheless, it is worth being a student here.

Course Curriculum Overview

The syllabus of the BA in English is up-to-date and proper recommended texts and videos that we can watch in order to enhance our knowledge in the subject and the topics that are taught. Some of the topics that are taught are British Literature, American Literature and Post-Colonial Literature and is divided across semesters. The exam Structure: We have 3 to 4 credits for different subjects within English. we have Internal exams for 25 marks and external exams for 75 marks.

Placement Experience

3.5

I have heard about good placements provided after post-graduation. I know one of my seniors who got placed after completing their master?s in English and I am hoping the same would be the case for me.

College Events

2.5

I have opted for distance learning in BA in English at Madras University, therefore, I am unable to participate in events if there are any. I am not very sure about the events as I haven't been there in person.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For BA in English, the total fee for three years is 7500 INR in total. It is affordable for most Indian Middle-Class households and in this amount and was for me as I come from a middle-class family. The free structure involves Tuition, Admission, Registration fee, Development fee, Postage fee, Lab fee, and Special fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are scholarships available for students who fall under the category of ST and SC. Since I am from the general category, thus I was not applicable to apply for the scholarship. My parents pay for me.

Campus Life

As I have opted for Distance Learning I do not know much about the extra activities. However, I can assure that I have not been discriminated based on my gender, ethnicity, race or religion during the process of online admission.

Hostel Facilities

I have not opted for hostels as I am not studying in the University in person, thus I am not able to comment much on the hostel facilities or the infrastructure because I haven't experienced it by myself.

Alumni/Alumna

I do not know all of the seniors but I have seen their reviews on the internet and the social platforms on the internet which is helpful for me being a student at this University. The platform where I have read the reviews is Google reviews.

Admission

It is merit-based and works on first come first serve criteria. I fit the criteria by completing 10+2 with results above 85% which might have increased my possibility of getting selected. I also applied right when the online processes started.

Faculty

4.5

There aren?t many professors for the topics taught in University, however, what they teach is exceptional and helpful despite the distance learning. There are 2 professors and 2 assistant professors. All of them have done their doctorate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Has a lot of new age courses like MS Excel, Python and Data Science. It prepares you fairly well for roles like Data Analyst, Financial Modelling, etc. Areas for improvement include optimising the curriculum load as per the students. Two internals (one after a month after sem starts, second a few weeks before the end sem) and the end sem. I feel the end sem is relatively easier due to the preparation we endure for the internals.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Political science syllabus in our college is pretty upgraded. The way it's structured is also pretty good. For a student of Political Science, they first gives us an introduction of the discipline theoretically explaining the subject before moving to it's real life examples. Out syllabus covers almost everything that is required for a Political Science graduate. Faculties make it even more effective using assignments and their lectures. We also have inter-disciplinary courses.
