Institute of Distance Education, University of Madras has supported me in completing my studies alongwith taking care of my work. The self learning material which is at par with the learning material of regular stream quite commendable.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was based on UGC guidelines and provided Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The examinations have internal and external assessment of 25 marks and 75 marks respectively. You will have to go pass six semesters.
Placement Experience
The institute of distance education provides good placement opportunities. Banks and companies like Wipro, ICICI, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance recruit freshers. The college has a placement cell and they provide opportunities to all the students to take part in the recruitment drive. The stipend ranges from 1 to 2.5 lacs per annum.
College Events
It being a distance education institute the college focus more on academics and not on conduct of festivals, so don't expect much in terms of conduct of technical, cultural or management festivals as such.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is affordable and you can complete your course within Rs. 20000. In first year you have to pay Rs. 5970, Second Year - Rs. 5120 and in third year it is Rs. 5120 which works out to Rs. 16210, which is quite comfortable for a student.
Fees and Financial Aid
The institute of distance education provides scholarship to eligible students of SC/ST category for reimbursement of the fees from the Government of Tamilnadu. Rs.500/- are provided to the eligible candidates annually for purchase of books. An eligible candidate can also avail scholarship for the disabled.
Campus Life
The institute of distance education has students who are working and trying to improve their studies. The diversity can be seen and the college is greatly into academics and not into any political or any problematic issues.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are not provided for the students of distance education mode learning. All the students who take admission in the course of instruction at Distance Learning have to arrange for themselves.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are helpful and provide you the required information. A student can register in the alumni association department known as The University of Madras Alumni Affairs Department (UMAAD), through which the students can stay connected with the college.
Admission
Yes, I took admission in the college as a distance education student. I had options of choosing IGNOU or TNOU. Institute of Distance Learning, University of Madras provided the flexible learning pace to me.
Faculty
The faculty is one of the best and they are very supportive. They give you proper guidance about studies and inform us time to time about completion of our exam related queries. They communicate well with the students.
