Course Curriculum Overview
The duration of the course is three years were the students are trained accordingly to practice the discipline for the control & prevention of dental diseases.Subjects of study during three years are applied anatomy, denture prosthesis, preventive period-ontology, oral implantation, allied clinical sciences, recent activities in periodontics etc.The course includes the art of learning dental heath and build expertise in population based dentistry & oral health surveillance.
Placement Experience
The job roles that are offered in social dentistry are dental surgeon, public heath manager, oral pathologist, dental assistant, ceramist. The employment areas are in government sector , community heath care services, NGOs, practitioners in railways, military hospitals and professors in colleges/universities. The starting package ranges from 4 to 7 lpa according to the position. Internships are mandatory in dental hospitals so that the students can get expertise in commission dental services and implements other programs related to social/public health.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The tuition fees is 6 L. One time registration fees of 10,000 needs to be deposited at the start of semester. There are no clinical fees involved in this.The room rent for hostel with A.C facility is 1,10,000. The mess & laundry charges are 60,000 and 6000 respectively which makes a total of 1,76,000.
Campus Life
Sports activities such as football, table tennis, volleyball, badminton etc are regularly conducted by the sports cell of the college to encourage them to participate in sports. Yoga and dance sessions are held every weekend. Workshops on topics such as research methods & epidemiology, evaluation and planning of oral heath, behavioral/social science applied to dentistry, determining the heath issues of dental community etc. Annual fest is also conducted at the college which includes activities such as ramp walk, fashion design, photography exhibition, pottery, making wax candles, face painting, t-shirt dyeing etc.
Admission
The student need to have a Bachelors degree in the respective course. Other than that you need to clear NEET-PG to get admission in this college. Apply online for the course you want admission and pay the fees through card or DD.Upload the necessary documents. A merit list will be prepared based on the NEET marks and previous examination scores. My name was in the second merit list. I was called for a counselling session and granted admission.
Faculty
The teachers are well qualified and experienced in public management and heath. They tell us about the duties which revolve around performing reconstructive surgery & tooth extractions. Assignments are given to us on a regular basis so that we learn the different types of dental diseases and learn how to make our patients comfortable on the dental chair.
