A Course that Changed My Perspective on MBA

Overall, my alma-mater provides a very unique experience of professional learning where you can learn all the rules of the game and the best ways of creating and shaping your career. Most importantly, it gives you a wonderful start and helps you grow in all aspects of your personal and professional life.

The college course is up to date with the requirements of the management profession. It offers specialization in marketing, human resource, finance and operations. My specialization was in finance. This is a semester based course with a total of four semesters in two years. The exam pattern is a mix of written tests and assignments and dissertations.

The placement cell is well-connected and effective. In my final year, we had more than 90 recruiters with 189 plus offers, spanning across various sectors like automobile and manufacturing, BFSI, consulting, FMCG/FMCD, IT/ITES, etc. The average package was about 20.14 lacs per annum, which is quite good for a fresher.

The fee structure of the college is based in the semester system and the total fees per semester were 5,34,975 for the first semester and 4,99,975 for the second semester. Compared to other top business schools this is a little high but totally worth it as the program specifically focuses on employability.

You can avail both student loan and scholarship. You can apply to various kinds of scholarships based on merit, sports performance, NER (North Eastern Region) scholarships, Jayatee Deshmukh Award, and contributions by Indian nationals.

There are a lot of extracurricular activities like sports, writing and debating championships, and there are many clubs to choose from like the SIBM Pune Toastmasters Club, QUOD - The Quizzing and Debating Society, Caf-Fin - Finance Club, and OpCellence - Operations Club, to name a few. The campus is not only tolerant in terms of differences but celebrates diversity.

The two-year, full-time residential MBA course in SIBM offers a professional outlook and training with a rigor of the top B-schools. The application procedure starts with the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP). The candidates shortlisted in the SNAP test are then called for a GE-PIWAT, i.e. Group Exercise - Personal Interview and Written Ability Test. This is a successive stage test and the candidates to qualify all the tests are selected for admission.

The faculty of MBA Finance is phenomenal, they are well experienced and have all the professional qualifications as well as robust corporate experience. Apart from the conventional classroom education, we were taught using the latest technologies and practices like case studies and practical assignments in the field.
