Remarks
The campus is beautiful and the city was closer to my family who were based in Bangalore. My experience has been great and made lots of friends. The faculty are amazing and they are there to help you when you approach. The admission procedure was based on entrance exam. Selection criteria was your graduation marks plus your entrance marks. Then they will announce the merit list depending on the programmes you selected. For life science programmes you have common exam for 10 departments. I selected biochemistry, microbiology, genetics and molecular biology. I got selected in all 4 but I chose biochemistry because that was my subject of interest. Then I had to fill the admission form on-campus and pay fees for academic year in campus bank. Along with challan copy, I had to submit my relevant marks cards. Then the admission is complete. I chose this university on feedbacks from my seniors who studied in the same university.
Course Curriculum Overview
In my undergraduate I had biochemistry, microbiology and zoology as my major subjects. I was very fascinated by biochemistry and thus chose to do masters in same. The research carried in biochemistry department at University of Mysore is remarkable. The student faculty ratio is around 1:9. All the teaching faculty are P. Hd qualified and are well-equipped to teach the subjects. The professors labs carry out research projects and we can approach and learn from them by assisting research scholars in lab. The syllabus is completed on -time and exams are conducted on timely basis unless theres a pandemic or climate crisis that disturb the schedule. The teachers use chalk and talk method and power point presentations to conduct classes depending on the topics. We have symposiums and guest lectures from lecturers of other reputed universities as well.
Placement Experience
Final semester students are eligible for placements. You can register for campus drive via email and you'll be notified regarding interview. For life science students campus placements are less and handful of companies arrive for campus placements. 10-12 students get placed every year with 4-5lakh per annum package. But majority of them prefer going for higher studies and thus prepare for entrance exams. If you have cleared phd entrance exams then you can apply for a spot at your professors lab and you will be getting fellowship.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
If you are selected in the merit list then you get a fee concession which is affordable. People of caste reservation also get huge benefits of fee deduction. The tuition fees is reduced almost 10 times for meritorious students. You can apply for scholarships like Indira gandhi single girl child, vidhyasarthi scholarship where complete fee will be renumerated. You can work in library for part-time job in campus. International students get handsome scholarships as well.
Campus Life
Life at campus is amazing. There's a cricket stadium and indoor badminton court. Various sports events are conducted annually where you can represent university. The sport events can be solo like badminton, table-tennis or team events like handball, cricket. Cultural fests also take place around july-august every year where you may have opportunity for national level representation. Then there's NSS club who are interested in social services. The library is huge with millions of books and journals available for reference and there are places for peaceful study time. Computers and free WiFi is available to students.
Interview Experience
I had written test to attend for my admission into M.Sc in biochemistry. No interviews or group discussion was conducted. The test was for 100 marks with objective questions having 10 sections. All sections are compulsory and no negative marking. The exam is offline and to be attended on campus. No online exams are conducted. The answers are submitted in form of OMR sheet. Result will be announced in the website within period of two weeks.
Other Applied Colleges
