Entrance Preview
I opted for Maharashtra CET and scored 99.99 percentile to get into JBIMS. I opted for this college because it is one of the most reputed colleges in India, has a great faculty and alumni network.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for Finance as a major. The course was well designed with many visiting faculties providing us with insights of the industry. We had the best professors in Mumbai teaching us Corp fin, equity markets and other finance subjects. We even enjoyed learning marketing in depth.
Internships Opportunities
I worked with Emirates Bank for internship and could only do a study project due to financial slowdown in 2008. However, the general stipend offered in our college was in the range of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 1,20,000 for 2 months of internship.
Placement Experience
Job placements have always been good at JBIMS. We has companies such as McKinsey, P&G, HUL, Nestle, SBI, Kotak Bank, Crisil, Icra, Coca Cola etc. offering packages stating from Rs. 8 lacs p.a. to Rs. 20 lacs p.a.
College Events
We has many events organised at our college such as P&G financial case study competition, Mahindra and Mahindra's business plan competition etc. Our cultural fest was called Prayaag which included many inter college marketing and finance competitions.
Fee Structure And Facilities
JBIMS has the 2nd best ROI amongst BSchools as the fees is very less as compared to placements. We had to pay only Rs. 80,000 p.a. as our fees which is very less as compared to other expensive Bschools such as NMIMS where the fees was Rs. 4 lacs p.a.
Fees and Financial Aid
I could not avail of any scholarships from the college. There was JRD Tata scholarship that I remember of that was offered at our college.
Campus Life
Campus life is a great experience always. We participated in various academic competitions and also in sports and other festivals at other colleges. We got to participate in intercollege competitions held by various other B-Schools quite frequently.
Hostel Facilities
I did not stay in hostel as I am a localite. However, from the experiences of those who stayed in hostels, it feels like the hostel atmosphere was vibrant and lively. Although quality of rooms and Infra was not so good, students enjoyed at hostels.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network of JBIMS is one of the strongest other than the IIMs. We had interactions with Nitin Paranjpe from HUL, Mr. Ashwini Hooda, now the DMD of Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd. Chanda Kochar, MD of ICICI bank etc.
Exam Structure
Exams were held on periodic basis and emphasis was on practical knowledge. We even had open book exam for couple of subjects.
Faculty
Majority of the faculty was visiting faculty having varied industrial experiences. The quality of professors was unmatchable with a mix of alumni and reputed people teaching us with lot of passion and vigour.
