Remarks

This was the best option for me out of all the colleges which I was eligible for at the time. We had few more engineering colleges, but only MIET was viable for its approach for all round development of a student that I had come to know. For admission, first students need to crack Jkcet exam based on which colleges are allocated during counselling. Post selecting the college, you need to reach the MIET office and then pay the admission fee for first semester. MIET is the best option if you want to complete engineering from Jammu considering they have better partnerships with multiple corporate organisation. MIET has also signed MoU with a US based University for scholarship in post graduate courses for which few of the students have gone. Then we have free courses, BOOT camp, MIET Fest which is well known.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I wanted to be an Engineer. Having already opted C++ in my 12th standard, I was well versed with coding basis. We were taught by knowledgeable staff and administration was easy to reach out to. Teachers and HoDs were friendly in my department , and we used to have casual conversations about our future there and then. Any doubts were cleared if we asked and no matter how many times we asked. Projector were used to teach along with labs for us to have visual understanding along with theoretical knowledge. Exams used to happen twice before finals of the semester, usually after 1.5 month interval. If students went through the syllabus, it could be easy, however, basics must be clear. Although, teachers emphasized the importance of basics and the exam used to had a similar pattern of finals so that students were prepared before attempting final semester exams preemptively.

Placement Experience

4

Campus placement is limited in MIET as far as i am concerned, as this was the situation during my time. Hardly 2-3 companies visited and not many were placed. We had to go to other colleges at our expense to be able to sit for placement. College authorities sometimes, however, do try and help in grooming and letting the students know if any placement opportunities are available near by for the students to go. Infineon visited the campus claiming to offer 10 LPA, but the students after completing the training were offered only up to 4LPA. Other companies like Amazon came for Non-technical jobs as well offering upto 3 LPA so that can be considered lower side. Now a days i hear that students are offered up to 8-10 LPA in edu-tech companies. Upto 20% students used to get placement through MIRT during my time but the numbers seem to have risen. I am out of college and is working in an MNC in NCR region.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee Structure is quite simple. First sem: 50k Second sem: 6-10k This pattern is followed consecutively throughout the 4 year session. Then we have miscellaneous charges which may vary, roughly 10k during college time. If you need accommodation, the college offers PG facility for the first year students only. Another expense is bus fare which is optional 10-12 thousand per semester for bus facilities. Scholarship is very rare in the college, only for Muslim minority, that too on merit basis. However, college has affiliation with entrepreneurship facilitator who may help with startup funding only. College placement has picked up pace in recent years, but earlier we had limited options. Udaan scheme was available at the time which is no longer available. Now college facilitates students in getting jobs through open campus placement and other ways. Hopefully better opportunities will come but exposure will definitely be there if you come to MIET.

Campus Life

4.5

Sammilan is the name of MIET college fest which offers various activities to the students ranging from technology, culture, sports, gaming, literature, and many more. It is usually conducted in winters from anywhere between October and Feb. MIET has its own Library with a decent collection of books, be it technology, comics, journals can be weekly, monthly or annually. The best part of library is newspapers which you can read on daily basis. Classrooms are pretty neat and with basic amenities that are required to teach, white board, marker, few of the classroom have black board and chalk. Only labs have AC, classroom have fans. For sports, there is a playground you can use but not much facilities are there. However, MIET does have chess and carrom board to play and often conducts healthy competitions for indoor sports. MIET has its own literary club, technical club, of which i was one of the founding members.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well in terms of theory but weak in terms of practicality. The curriculum can be improved by adding some practical activities, which might give students real world experience.

Students are eligible for placemnt after third year. total 8 companies from local Food and beverage companies and agriculture related companie came for campus placements. Most of the student didnt take offers from the companies because none of the companies were offering more than 15k to 18k per month I also didnt take the placement offer for the same reason and now i am thinking for further studies from somewhere that have good placements Out of 23 students who were eligible for placements only 3 accepted the offer.

The placement at my college are fairly strong, with a focus on proving opportunities for student in both technical field and non-technical fields. various reputed companies visit our campus for placement like TCS, infosys, and many more. The highest package aroun INR 40 LPA. the majority of the offers are for cybersecurity. My plan is for business after the degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had chosen the course myself but this year due to NEP we had 7 subjects which is kinda difficult for us to study .only 2 subject are main that are major and minor rest changes as per semester, so last year my multidisciplinary subject was Geography in 1st sem and then Geology in 2nd semester. There must be some changes in course. 1. Shortage must not be 75% it becomes difficult for students . 2. Teaching method must have to be improved.. Colleges have a semester of 6 months, they give information in 1 to 2 months and after some time in the semester, papers start..they should give some more time for preparation. The difficultly level of exams are not much... kinda easy paper . In minor exams the time limit is one hour and in major 2.5 hour . Sometimes time is problem too ... As I'm humanities student and we hv to write in length but sometimes due to time shortage weren't able to write much contents but overall my experience in college was good

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose science-non medical subjects being MATHS, GEOGRAPHY, and GEOLOGY. Reasons are my interest and love for these subjects. Class students and teachers ratio is good: 40-1. Teachers' qualifications are also good: MSc, Ph.D., NET qualified. Our exams were semester-wise [once in six months]. it was easy to pass if you just study normal and attend classes.
