3 memorable years of IHM Bhubaneshwar

IHM Bhubaneshwar is the best Govt. affiliate college, course flexibility, and friendly faculties. If I discuss about admission process, I got admission in this college as per merit list that is All India Joint Entrance Exam for hospitality management done by few respected cities where those colleges are present. It’s very simple first get entrance from respected IHM affiliate college then fill it up, make demand draft, and courier this to the mentioned office. After that they will send admit card. Just prepare for the entrance exam and get a good rank and join the college. Always try to get lower rank to get a good institution. My admission fee was 50,000 now its may be more and the month of admission is mostly July. I select this college because first Govt. affiliate and less course fee and its 3rd ranked all over IHM. Also campus is very big with all equipment and amenities, very cooperative faculties, and on 3rd year everybody will get placements in highly ranked hotels.

Hotel Management course is very easy but first I mention that everyone should be good in English, because all the books are in English and exam is also in English. I chosen this course to join in reception of a reputed hotel some of them may like different sectors as per their choice. As I say say about faculties all are very coordinated about their learning skills. If I talk about ratio every subject has more than two faculties as compare to 1st, 2nd and 3rd year. All faculties are graduates and their teaching skills are up to the mark and so its very simple to understand. Also there have some practical classes like bakery, kitchen, f&b, housekeeping and front office where you can get more knowledge about this course. Term exams happens every 6 month. Questions are very easy because subject is very much understandable. If you put little concentration then you achieve great score.

All IHM is providing off campus internships to all the students in reputed hotels. In 2nd year students have to clear the interviews in hotels conducting by IHM faculties to get the internship and the stipend is 1200/month. In this 17 weeks internship you have to cover all major departments in holes like kitchen, F&B, Front office and Housekeeping. After completion you will get certificate that need to show in college along with log book and a brief about which departments and how you complete this 17 weeks training.

Campus placements are held on 3rd year and 2nd semester. At that time all reputed companies and hotels are offering you jobs. Most companies like- ITC, Hayatt, Oberoi hotels, Lalit, Leela Place, Accor Hotels, Some retal chains like- KFC, Pizza Hut, MC-Donals, Burgerking. Also call centers are coming like IBM. Almost 30-35 companies are coming in 6 months to give everyone great jobs. They are giving good salary structure and good positions in term of fresher. In hotels providing lowest position and salary like 15k-20k. In retail chain they placed as shift manager and salary like 20k-25k initially. If I talk about percentage then students have to get 68%-70 % marks to get a good placement opportunity, but don’t be worried everyone gets placements if still have lower marks that means they are providing 100% placement. Also if you want to do your own business or join in aviation or railways, it is possible. My plan was to join a reputed hotel that was ITC Sonar Kolkata.

If I discuss about the fee structure I must say it’s very affordable rather than other private college. We have to pay fees in every semister means every 6 month. So it’s 3 year course and you have to pay around 50k in every 6 month. It varies time to time. Now it might be little higher. I don’t know about scholarships program but I wanna talk about training and campus interviews. On 2nd year 1st or 2nd semister college will send you reputed hotels for training to get trained in real world in consecutive departments. But this process is also gone through some interview criteria with hotes Human Resource department. Taining is about 17 weeks and after compleation you will get certificate, that you have to show your college along with log book and a brief speach about your taining to get semister marks. Stipen will get around 1200/month. Now about campus interview it’s held in 3rd year 2nd semister when reputed companies will come to hire. And they offered around 15k-20k.

Every year all IHM is conducting annual fest at end of year. Where we are enjoying with songs, stage shows, dance, foods and soft drinks, its really a enjoyable moment. If I talk about library in one word "it’s vast". You can get mostly all book samples regarding the course. Our college always conducting sports activities like cricket, athletics, and football. Sometimes cooking competitions. All IHM has social groups in Facebook where mostly all the students are available and they can help you if you need .

Hostel is situated inside college compound. Rooms are specious and every room has three studens with every students has separated writing and reading table and wardrobe Hostel meal is very good compare to outside foods. They provides three times meals breakfast, evening snaks and dinner and lunch is provided by college. Also they are prepare veg and nonveg meals for all students those are not taking non veg. Registration process of hostel is simple at the time of admission they will ask for hostel and all provided charges have to pay. It’s very convenient so anyone can pay for that. In 2010 when I get admission hostel room was not available but now they have made 2 more hostes in college compound to accommodate all the students and now it’s mandatory to stay in hostels. Oherwise if you go out for fun so outside locality is very good and clean. You can find all necessary things in shops and nearly also has good restaurants.

GD,PI and written is mandatory in mostly all campus interviews. Because it’s necessary to select great students. GD: very simple mostly interviewers give topics with current affairs. PI: They will ask about your knowledge regarding subject that you sit for, see your potential and situation handling skills. Written exam may or may not be happen all time. But if you sit for kitchen then you have to give trade test, means have to make one item on time along with interview. Mostly I prepare for those interview from internet and you-tube. GD, we will prepare with our friends. We all sit and discuss about one topic that improves our communication skills as well as GD skills, so if you prepare good then can achieve those skills.
