Course Curriculum Overview

3

Successful courses require careful planning and continual revision. Consult with colleagues who have taught the same or similar courses to learn from their strategies and their general impressions of the students who typically take the course. If you are team-teaching, you and your teaching partner(s) should begin meeting well in advance to discuss course goals, teaching philosophies, course content, teaching methods, and course policies, as well as specific responsibilities for each instructor.

Placement Experience

2.5

Campus placement or campus recruiting is a program conducted within universities or other educational institutions to provide jobs to students nearing completion of their studies. In this type of program, the educational institutions partner with corporations who wish to recruit from the student population.

College Events

3.5

Celebrating Pongal, the harvest festival, in college campuses brings together students and also provides an opportunity the students to learn more about Tamil culture. The same holds good for Onam, Christmas, and other festivals that are celebrated in campuses.

Fee Structure And Facilities

A student fee or student activity fee is a fee charged to students at a school, college, university or other place of learning that is in addition to any matriculation and/or tuition fees. It may be charged to support student organizations and student activities (for which it can be called an activity fee) or for intercollegiate programs such as intramural sports or visiting academics; or, at a public university or college, as a means to remedy shortfalls in state funding (in which case it can often be called a technology fee). [1] Further fees may then be charged for features and facilities such as insurance, health and parking provision.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

The candidates who wish to apply must belong to the category of Scheduled Caste and should have taken admission in a full-time degree course after class 12 in a notified institution. Also, the annual family income of the applicant must not be more than INR 6 Lakh from all the source. Those selected students who are studying in private sector institutions are liable to receive full tuition fee & non-refundable charges with a maximum ceiling of up to INR 2 Lakh per annum and those students who are admitted into private sector flying clubs and pursuing courses like Commercial Pilot Training and Type Rating Courses receive tuition fee & other non-refundable charges with a maximum ceiling of up to INR 3. 72 Lakh per annum. Besides this, students also get INR 2, 220 per month as living expenses, an annual amount of INR 3, 000 as books & stationery allowance and one-time assistance of up to INR 45, 000 for latest computer/laptop and other related accessories. Pre-Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities is a government scholarship which offers financial assistance in the form of admission fee, tuition fee and maintenance allowance to those needy students who belong to minority communities. Minority communities of India include Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain and Zoroastrian/Parsi. The applicants who wish to apply for this scholarship can do so through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Campus Life

3

This is a great way to get yourself noticed amongst the senior staff in the school as well as gaining invaluable experience in a position of responsibility. Depending on your school’s policies, you may need to be elected into these positions requiring you to network amongst your peers to persuade them that you are the best person to represent them, by displaying your excellent communication skills as well as approachable nature.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

A hostel is a budget-oriented, shared-room ("dormitory") accommodation that accepts individual travelers (typically backpackers) or groups for short-term stays, and that provides common areas and communal facilities. To be considered a hostel, the property must provide short-term, shared (dormitory-style) accommodation for individual travelers, though many hostels also provide private rooms. The word "dormitory" refers to a room where travelers independently book individual beds in a shared room as opposed to booking entire rooms like in a hotel or guesthouse.

Alumni/Alumna

Where did ultra high-net-worth individuals (UHNW) study? According to Wealth-X "World Ultra Wealth Report" from 2014, 5% of the world's educated UHNW individuals have attended the top ten universities which are all located in the United States (University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, Columbia University, New York University, MIT, University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Yale University and Cornell University).

Admission

Get the best possible grades you can during ALL four years of high school. Grades are extremely important. Take academically rigorous classes ALL four years. You should carry as many challenging courses as you can handle—college prep, Advanced Placement (AP), honors, and International Baccalaureate (IB). Practice taking the SAT or ACT. Become familiar with the types of material covered and the test directions. Take the PSAT during your sophomore year. Determine what knowledge and skills you lack and master them for the actual tests. Take advantage of free online SAT or ACT materials, study guides, practice tests, tutors, and prep courses before or during your junior year.

Faculty

Observing faculty in action is a good way. The observation of the faculty member could be conducted by the department head and also by colleagues at different times. A rubric/checklist should be prepared in advance and needs to be filled during the observation. The most important thing is to do both announced and unannounced observation visits. The faculty members should expect both to happen. Another way for evaluating faculty performance is by using a self-evaluation, usually done in the form of a video that the faculty member shoots of himself/herself in action. After they are done taping a class they taught, they can view their video and then reflect on what they did well and what things they need to change. The reflection could be done individually or with the guidance of a colleague or a department head or a mentor, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I want to become a mathematical statistical officer. The student ratio in our UG batch was 110 students. We were divided into two classes. The qualification of the maximum faculties is MSC, while some of them have done their Ph.D. The overall teaching is good but it could have been improved. The exams were easy to pass if you studied the previous year's semester question papers.
