Degree with a dose of life

Our course covers the basic of the subjects and we have not gained advanced knowledge. Although well prepared, it was difficult to attend the entrance exam in other institution. Practicals are less than theory. So the course should give more deep knowledge about the subjects and also practical knowledge.

There is no paid internship offers. We went to Balaji medical college for 10 days internship. We have taught some practical experiments and got certificate. We paid 2k for that. During our final yearz we did our team projects with the help of our guide.

I have completed BSc Plant biology and plant biotechnology. The fees for including admission fees, tuition fees, lab fees is Rs.19k per year. The same goes for 2nd and 3rd year. And semester exam fees will be nearly Rs.1.5k per semester. So the total fees for 3 years including the exam will be Rs. 66k. There is no merit scholarships but there is scholarship available for SC, ST, MBC and BC categories.

The celebrations for pongal, diwali, onam and annual functions are conducted. Intercollegiate and interdepartmental competitions are often conducted. The library contains books related to department subjects and also story books, magazines a lot. Systems are present with wofi connections and students can access it during library hours and after the college hours. Classrooms are good with powerpoint facility. The college has indoor stadium and field for sports. Competitions and tournaments were held. They also provide extra curricular activities like baking, stitching, beautician courses but not for free. There are many clubs including book club, quiz club, rotary club, theatre club and many.

I had applied only to this college and I have got admission after few days. So I didn't try for other collges. My father's friend recommended this college so I joined here. The admission process went really quick. After I submitted my details, I got a SMS within few days. The selection is based on 12th marks and the cutoff marks varies for departments.

In our department there are 36 students. It is a women's college. There are 5 faculties for our department. There are some friendly faculties, and there are strict ones also. Our bioinformatics mam is very friendly and helped us very much in completing our projects and guided us very well. I felt that some staffs didn't give proper internal marks. There are 2 internal exams per semester but they won't be taking marks from that exam. They will take marks from one test that will be conducting suddenly. Those who are absent on that day will be getting very less internal marks and it affects our overall marks. The exams are not too tough. Mostly all the students clear the exams in most of the semesters. Some will fail (3/4 out of 36) in some semesters.

The college for morning shift starts at 8.20 and ends at 12.50. The evening shift ends at 5 o clock. The canteen is good with more varieties of food and the taste is also good. It is spacious also. The library is so good with neat maintenance and well lit. There is hostel facility but hostel students complain that the food is not good.
