Remarks

The college gave personal attention to each student. Those inclined in extra-curricular activities were given reasonable opportunities. There were also opportunities for developing leadership qualities

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

At the 11th-12th level I opted for a course leading to graduate course in Commerce. The base curriculum learners level knowledge on book keeping, economics, business development, with a few language lessons and social studies. At the graduation level, advanced accounting course, mercantile and company law, Economics, Statistics (an optional subject), fundamentals of auditing, etc with a few language lessons provided a base for starting a career.

Placement Experience

1

During the period of education, there was no placement procedure, especially at the graduation level in non-professional courses. After graduation level, depending on one's inclination, one opts for higher education or enters the job market,

College Events

4

College Day, Sports Day, Independence Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Onam, Christmas. Different religious groups arranged celebrations of religious festivals. The arts club arranges music and drama competitions, Mimicry shows, music festivals. Annual sports competitions are also held

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure depends on the stream of education selected. At the beginning of the academic year, there is common fees like admission fee, Library Fees, Sports Fees, and other similar items common to all streams. The tuition fees differ depending on the stream and are to be paid on monthly basis. Exam fees also differ on the basis of the stream. For science subjects there will be additional Lab fees

Fees and Financial Aid

Right from Standard 8. I used to get scholarships. Most of the students with scores of over 60% used to get some scholarships. In addition to the schemes under the government and university, there were scholarships from private trusts, religious trusts, international organizations, etc

Campus Life

4.5

The male - female ratio of the students was about 60:40. There were ample opportunities for extra curricular activities. The college was having a good library with a large collection on different subjects, course related as well as general topics. Separate facilities were available for Volley Ball, Basket Ball, track and field events. Cricket though in nascent stage received some encouragement with the Sports Officer arranging a few games at a ground about 2 kms away from the college.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The college had in house hostel facilities for girl students. Over 90% of the students used be day scholars. Most of the students used to carry lunch from home. There used to be a small canteen run by a private contractor providing tea, coffee, breakfast and evening snacks, and a few items for lunch. Male students who preferred hostel facility had to depend on privately run hostels

Alumni/Alumna

During my young days, I have not heard of these systems. After completion of graduation, some students moved to other colleges for higher education while others moved out in search of jbs.

Admission

Since I had score over 60% in the 10th standard, a rarity way back in 1970, I got admission without any formalities. Once the application form has been submitted, my parent was called to complete the formalities and pay the admission fees along with other dues

Faculty

4.5

Right from 11th standard onwards (in University of Kerala, during the period of my education, 11th standard onwards were in colleges under the University affiliation), each subject, be it main, subsidiary, social sciences or languages, was handled by specialist lecturers attached to the particular department. Mercantile Law and Company Law were handled by guest faculty, who were practicing advocates.
