I took the engineering exam of Rajasthan ヨ Rajasthan Pre engineering test in 1999. I got the rank 1492 and got the Electronics and communication branch at MAIET. MAIET was the first private engineering college of Jaipur and it was kind of sceptical to take that plunge. I had options to get the better branches in other colleges as well but the very fact the Maharishi college was based out of Jaipur led me to take the decision to take this college with branch as electronics and communication.
Internships Opportunities
The internship experience was self dependent one. College asked the students only to find the internships and handed over the request letters to the students which they could show to the companies and get the internship. Although I believe that on a hindsight this gave a feeling independence and self confidence in the students.
Placement Experience
Our batch was the first one to pass out from the institute. I feel it was a challenging task to arrange companies on the campus. This became a big deterrent in boosting the confidence levels of the students. However, the placement cell in the college managed to arrange Indian army to come to the college with the package levels of 1.5 ヨ 2 lacs in 2003. Although not great, this gave a ray of some hope to the students. Iメm not sure how many students could eventually made it.
College Events
This was one thing that was really good about the college. The cultural and sports activities were quiet a few and almost all students were thoroughly involved in the process. Lot of practice and arrangements were a part of the programmes. Singing, dancing, drama etc were integral part of it. It gave immense self confidence once the events got successfully completed.
Fees and Financial Aid
There was no scholarship facility at our time 1999-2003. But Iメm not sure whether its there now. Loan of coarse was a matter between the students and banks so college did not have any say in the loan related process. But there seriously should have been scholarships.
Campus Life
College life in the campus was fun. Lots of activites made the campus lively all the time. Gender ratio was not good for our batch but improved thereafter. Race and religion never became an issue and there was never any issue related to caste. Economic status was mixed and tolerance levels were also mixed. With girls being less, boys used to dominate the action in the college.
Faculty
The college being new, the faculty also was young and mostly recruited from the nearby colleges. Laler on some of those faculty members also became head of department. There were also Guest Faculties from the reputed institutes like the university of rajasthan and malaviya national instt of technology.
