4 crucial years at CGC

Through ECE, I can always choose to switch between software as well as a hardware field. I wasn't sure at the beginning of my engineering as to which field is better and therefore I chose ECE so that in future I can choose the field I develop an interest in. The faculty-student ratio is good, teachers here are really supportive. The best part is that all of them are young and are easily approachable. The teachers are indeed qualified and have in-depth knowledge of their domain. The curriculum of PTU is old which is a con for the students and needs rigorous changes like any other institute in India. There were 2 sessionals in every semester and one final exam conducted by PTU. They are pretty easy to pass but its quite challenging to score full marks.

Placements start from the end of 3rd year or after your 6th semester. There were almost all of the top IT companies visiting the college including Microsoft, Google, Epam, Wipro, Walmart Labs, Capgemini, and many more. The average package is 4.2 LPA and the highest package offered was 34Lpa. However, for the ECE department, there are very few companies visiting the college. Thus, it is highly advisable that if you are looking for IT jobs you can come here. Almost 70% of ECE students have got placed from our batch. However, I don't blame the institute for the unplaced students as enough opportunities were given to them. Thus, it all depends on the students whether they can use the opportunity to the fullest.

College fees were 43000 per semester, with a total of 8 semesters. There were some additional minor costs like enrollment for placement program at 3000. Examination fees of 800 every semester and other minor costs. There were multiple scholarships scheme for the SC/ST/OBC and also for students resident of Punjab state by the Punjab govt. However, there are a very limited scope of scholarship opportunities for general category students. There are scholarships for exceptional students and also sports quota scholarships which help them in these fields

The annual fest's name is Parivartan which is conducted every year around the month of October. There are all kinds of events like dancing, singing, fashion shows, bodybuilding competitions, fun activities, debates, coding competitions and a lot more. Apart from that, there are multiple small fests organized by various departments all around the year at various times. Every department has its own library and a central library at our ECE block. There are projectors in every classroom and they are clean and have good benches. Sports is highly promoted and events like chess, cricket, football, bodybuilding competitions, athletic meets, and so on. Students are encouraged to participate in these extra-curricular activities.
