Remarks
The college is not great but it is not nad either. It is good. One has lots of free time and learning opportunities here after classes. If one makes good use of one's time, they can surely achieve great in life.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is standard. It is relevant to the PG exams- like GATE, NET. Every semester has 2-4 labs that carry 400 marks weightage. Campus placements are not great to be honest here and one couldn't expect too much from teachings of all the professors during my stay as most of them, even though taught well, were occupied with the University business. But, now new fresh blood professors have been recruited and their reviews are good. But, apart from classes one has too much of free time that they can put into use for any constructive purpose, like self grooming (doing some coursework on ML, AI or prepare for GATE ) or competitive coding.
Placement Experience
College placements are not that great. One has to depend on mass recruiters or pool campus done at MNNIT. However, most students prepare here for GATE, GRE, CAT and manage to do well. Many also have been able to bag jobs through online competitive plateforms. The curriculum is light and so, one has lots of time for self grooming.
College Events
The college hosts the annual football tournament SWAT cup, badminton tournament SMASH, basketball tournament SLAMDUNK and cricket tournament TECHNO cup. Apart from it, AVIRBHAV is the annual cultural and technical fest of the department. Certain functions like Engineers day, IETE conferences and Alumni Meets are also organised.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is very feasible as it one of the central funded universities. During my BTech, the fee for 4 years (including hostel without mess) was 1.5 lacs which is very nominal. It includes fee of educational trip too taken in 4th year. Loans can also be easily arranged.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The college do not offer any scholarship of it own as such. However, the students were able to enjoy state scholarships of their respective states.
Campus Life
Allahabad University is one of the oldest Universities in India set up in late 19th century. The university has hosted many great Indian leaders like Pt Nehru, Indira Gandhi and many more. The campus has diversified courses and students from all over India come here. The university has a lot to offer in terms of development of interpersonal skills, hobbies and a better understanding of Indian culture, society and politics as a whole apart from curriculum.
Hostel Facilities
During first year, freshers have to share room which has one almirah, 2 beds, 2 table and chairs and 1 fan. After that, one can get single rooms subject to availability. Each floor has one set of bathroom plus toilet at each vertex of the floor. The mess food and cleanliness is okayish.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni of Dept of Electronics and Communication are great. Senior alumni are in ISRO, DRDO, TELECOM Ministry (IES), BSNL, CEOs of private firms and Professors/ Directors of prestigious institutions. The fresh batches have secured jobs in prestigious firms and startups like SAMSUNG, INTEL, QUALCOM, NETAPPS, OYO, ORACLE, IBM etc
Admission
The admission is through JE (MAINS) and all the set counseling dates are followed. The college has only two streams- CSE and ECE. The fees of the college is very less at par with central universities. During my B.Tech the fees including hostel fee (excluding mess) was 1.50 lac INR for 4 years.
Faculty
Some faculties are great, most are average and some are pathetic. During my undergrad from 2012-2016, there was a dearth of professors as the old ones were retiring and the university was not able to hire new ones. But, since past one year, new and young batch of professors have been recruited who all hold PHDs from reputed government institutions. The older professors have made a name for themselves in their field of expertise.
