College Review

The course curriculum for MCA programme is very good. The course curriculum includes Computer Architecture, Computer Networks, Data Structures and files using C, Java Programming, Project Visual C++, Software Project Management, Programming Fundamentals, Fundamentals of Computer Organization, Data and File Structure, Mathematical Foundation, Elements of Basic Communication, Web Technology etc. The exam structure is divided into 2 sections namely internal examinations and external/university examination. The curriculum includes computer lab visits wherein practical sessions are held weekly. There are 4-5 computer labs for MCA. Assignments are given and evaluated on monthly basis. This is the overall course curriculum of the college.

The placement ratio of the college is good. Company such as Les Transformations, FIS, Global, Unthinkable (Daffodil) Software, Sap Labs Pvt. Ltd., Visiontek Engineers, Deloitte, Infosys, NCR Corporation, NIIT Technologies, Wunderman Production etc. visit college campus every year. The annual package provided is 11.5 LPA. In 2018 the highest package was 9.5 LPA. VIPS provides no internship. However the students need to seek internships on their own.

There are many events celebrated in college. VIPS has its own fest popularly called as spandan. Spandan is the main event of the college where celebrities visit the college. Other events includes sports events such as cricket, football, basketball and badminton events. Workshops are held. Guest lectures are held on monthly basis.

VIPS college does not provide any hostel for students. Students need to get accomodation by their own. However, there are hostel near the college campus. There are PG facilities near the college. Hostels near the college are good. Facilities provided by the hostels are enough to satisfy a students needs. However not all hostels near the campus are well maintained. Only a few of the hostels have mess facilities. Hostels available accomodate 2 students in each room.

I got admission in this college on the basis of my bachelor's degree percentage and my 12th standard marks. For admission into VIPS college the admission criteria is as follows: i) Bachelor’s Degree of a recognized University in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate and must also have passed Mathematics and English (core or elective or functional) at least at the Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the CBSE or any other Examination recognized as equivalent thereto. ii) BCA/BIT/BIS of a recognized University of at least three years duration with at least 50% marks in aggregate or any qualification recognized as equivalent thereto. iii) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in aggregate. iv) 85% seats shall be for candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any School/ Institution located in Delhi/ New Delhi or from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and 15 percent seats are reserved for Outside Delhi Region. This is the admission criteria of the college.

VIPS is equipped with standard faculty. The faculty is specialized in various subjects such as Application Software, Hardware Technology, Management Information Systems, Internet, Software Development, Systems Management, Systems Development, Systems Engineering, Troubleshooting etc. The faculty members have a experience of about 25-30 years. The faculty members have a lot of experience in research work and have published papers in their area of expertise in well known journals. The faculty members have excellent practical knowledge and are ready to extend help whenever required. the faculty members do represent work outside college. Overall the faculty members are very good and coordinating.
