Remarks
The college is a good choice for anyone that stays far away and is not capable of attending regularly. The faculty available ensure clear cut understanding of the topics by the students and the students are allowed to have their own creative freedoms when it comes to activities like sports, art, etc. All-in-all, a really good college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is structured in such a way that if the student is determined, then he/she can get through the syllabus with ease. Paying attention in class, along with completing the required assignments will ensure peaceful completion of the syllabus, and will give ample time to prepare for the exam.
Placement Experience
The students are given placement training prior to the actual placements occurring. The detailed curriculum covers all bases for possible interviews, whether on campus or out of it. Most companies that come for placement usually hold recruit a large number of people, not because they have to, but because the students are bright and capable.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The M.Com course has a fee breakdown of approximately Rs. 18,000 for the first year, followed by the same figure the next year, totaling to a 2 year course. Other colleges are charging nearly twice or thrice the amount, but owing to the government owned college, KUD offers this for lower fees. Also certain subsidies can be had, depending on caste categories and obtained scholarships.
Campus Life
There are some extremely talented students here that function as captains for their respective sport teams. The college encourages sporting behavior and has some lenience towards attendance, provided the student provides proof of actually taking part in sports.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are clean and hygenic. The washrooms and bed rooms are maintained well and the students are cared for by the wardens. The food is clean and given on time, and certain hours of the day are kept free as study times.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network from Karnataka University is diverse and packed with talents that were nurtured in these very classes. Alumnus are invited to the college on a regular basis and students are permitted to have interactions with them, so that they can share their perspective to the world.
Admission
The option of having long distance learning available to me was a big boon. Because of my job and other requirements, the chances of attending college in person everyday was impossible, but fortunately, the course I wanted was available at KUD. The requirements listed for the course were B.Com pass from a recognized university, which is what I had taken up. The reason I chose M.Com was the presence of Managerial Economics and Modern Marketing, which falls under the scope of my current job.
Faculty
The faculty of the college are experienced, yet patient enough to get through all topics in an organized fashion. Main topics are taught after the basics, to ensure a thorough understanding by the students. Most of the faculty mark important points and proceed with previous year question papers, just so all bases are covered.
