Course Curriculum Overview

5

I have recently done my internship in one of the top 50 offices (as per Domus) I noticed that my other fellow colleagues were from very known colleges, but yet I was far superior in terms of technical knowledge as well the understanding of structure on both philosophical and functional level. In my opinion my 60% other batchmates were far superior in many aspects then this guy's who were from renowned colleges. The curriculum is conducted in semester pattern. Students have a choice to select the faculty for design subject, faculty have choices to conduct there studio in there own understanding and knowledge of subject as suggested by University. The discussions happen on one on one. Which allows every student to have interaction. There are online portal called moodle which allows students store there submissions and access lecture and books online. Yes visits are organized on regular basis.

Placement Experience

4

In general the architectural course doesn't have placements as such. The way followed generally is sending portfolios to the offices which one is interested into. College has certain parameters for selecting offices for internship, internship within state is not allowed. 30% students end up working in same office that of internship. Recommendation and other required help is done by college and faculty as references are of utmost importance. Institute has a subject named professional practice which prepare students not only for jobs but for proffesion as well.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Extremely transparent fee structure. Yearly fee is near about 1 lakh. No other expenses are charged besides when the students have backlogs then the form fee as per university is charged. Yearly tours are organized which are way to organised and are very economical, best of tour schedule is planned by college, a student should never miss one. Tour fee is approximately 20000 for 15 days. They are called as North, south, central, east and west, locations are categorized respectively.

Fees and Financial Aid

College provides scholarship as per the set rules of university for the caste category. Caste certificate is required while opting for the entrance exam and entrance procedure thourough Nata. If one gets a seat thourough this process he or she is liable for scholarship. For education loan college provides all necessary documents I have education loan and without morgage or collateral; loan amount sufficient enough to pay five year fee is received.

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio is nearly 10 girls :5 boys students are from all economical, religional and social background. Competition named as IDS at the start of each semester is conducted. It's is a competition where students of all semesters are put in a group and compete on given architectural and design topic for 4 days and ends with jury and winners. SIC a student committee exists in college which takes care of activities and students, it is made sure that no ragging would take place on campus or outside campus by any IDEAN. No discrimination depending on economy or social or religion or sexual orientation has ever happened in campus or outside. Extremely educated and qualified people and there beliefs make this smooth and learning truly to be global citizens of tomorrow.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

No I am localite. But most of students leave in flats rented out with fellow batchmates and seniors. In architecture this is the best way to learn to leave with seniors. Flats are well set with basic furniture required. Nashik is a damn good city as people are helpful.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni of IDEA are all over world. They stay in touch thourough a facebook group, one can always get in touch with anyone, mostly faculty would share contacts if ones design topic are similar or so. As we have IDS and vertical studio one always meets seniors and work together. Many a times people turn out to be friends helping each other and partying together offcourse. It's easy to understand post graduate courses and options also the offices and how to make choices. Mostly the seniors who are working in offices suggest internships. They are of great help.

Admission

I always wanted to be an architect, I wonder I have ability to be an artist and yet hold the technology together. I always wanted to be part of this institution because they talk about being digital, it is the future, while very few colleges in India promoted digital system, IDEA became the visionaries where they developed ways to keep the traditional way but be ready for what's coming, I had an idea about it and thus wanted to be in this institution always. Admission process is thourough the NATA score and 12 th board marks, culminating both a score is generated thourough which all over India the seats are been allotted. As per the score the candidate would get preference to select institute of their choice. Remaining seats of institute are filled thourough management. Need to mention is they don't take any donations.

Faculty

4

Every 10 students would have 1 faculty. Most of the faculty have masters as there qualification from top universities of world. Most importantly all are practicing architects with many awarda to there name. As per the semester and topic that is to be dealt in that studio the team is formed which becomes a very good exercise for students in gaining knowledge of every aspect.

The frequency of exam is twice a semester and good enough. Guest lectures are good and helpful for the future preparation. There must be a change in teaching styles of the faculty and more site based experiments through the course for better understanding than only in class studies , the beauty of historical buldings made me wonder about this course

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the architectural course because I love designing buildings. The teachers were good, and there weren't too many students in each class. They knew a lot about architecture and taught us in different ways, like drawing and going to see real buildings. The exams were fair and not too hard, but you had to study. Overall, I liked the course and learned a lot about architecture.

Placement Experience:

There is no campus placement for architecture students. After completion of the degree, one can apply for jobs or opt for masters. Architects get an average starting salary of 20-25 thousand. The course is pretty expensive including college fees and printing prices. One can also open a private firm and earn enough money. There are very few open students getting placed. My plans after getting a degree are to apply for masters. For a teaching job, one must complete masters.
