Overall it's a good college. The focus of the college is mostly on studies, which is in fact a good thing! If you want to be good in studies and secure a good placement, GITS will help you in achieving your goals.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum covers almost all of the fundamentals, which are required as a Mechanical Engineer. Yes, the curriculum is groomed to provide industry-specific knowledge. It helps a lot in securing on-campus placements. Yes, 2-3 Industrial visits were organized every year.
Placement Experience
Adani Gas Ltd., Thermax, Byjus, Pinnacle are some of the companies that visited the campus for placement drives. General steps in a placement drive include online test, group discussion followed by technical and HR interview rounds. 60-70% of students get placed. A lot of placement oriented sessions were conducted. Classes for aptitude, interview preparation and personality development were organized before every placement drive.
College Events
Tech fests are organized in every semester. They are mostly Yearwise. Also, every Saturday is dedicated to different technical activities. Cultural and management activities are organized with great enthusiasm. Annual day, Freshers day, Farewell day are some of the must-attend fests.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I've a TFWS (Tuition fees waiver scheme) seat. So, my program fee is nearly 40k per year. Payments can be accepted through cash, cheques and account to account transfer. No, there's no extra charge that had to be paid in order to secure admission in the course. The fee-breakdown is very clear and is according to RTU (Rajasthan Technical University).
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, the college offers scholarship opportunities to students. There are various scholarship schemes for girl students and for backward caste students.
Campus Life
Campus life is above average, I can't say the best but yes there's a lot of stuff to do. Gender ratio would be around 1:7 i.e. 1 girl on 7 boys. Labs are well-organized and have almost every apparatus and instruments. Various official and unofficial (hostel tournaments) Sports tournament are organized yearly. There are no. Of societies like cultural, technical, sports, management, music etc. in which one can participate.
Hostel Facilities
There's a separate hostel for freshers. And in total there are 6 hostels. Among them, 4 are boys hostels and 2 are girls hostels. It's always on a sharing basis (2 students per room). There are 3 single rooms in every hostel, one can opt for a single room too. Wifi facility is provided in every hostel floor. The mess is also included in the hostel fees. The food quality is good but sometimes it may be poor.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni meet is conducted by the college at the end of the year. In this many senior students participate actively and share their views about their present and past.
Admission
My Curiosity towards technical stuff and Machineries guided me to opt this course. After my 12th, I heard a lot of positive reviews about GITS from many individuals. As a part of admission process, I filled the REAP (Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process) form. I was alloted GITS as my college. After that a visit to college is required in order to confirm the admission.
Faculty
The tentative number of lecturers in this course would be around 20, the average age of the faculties would be nearly 35. Faculties are always allotted on the basis of the expertise in the subject they have. Yes, most of the faculties here hold industry-experience and certifications.
