Remarks

The college is overall a good college. It's old and it has a very good library. The teachers are also good and the infrastructure is also sufficient. Only one thing in which this college lags is placement. The college doesn't provide in-campus placement facility. Students have to look for internships and jobs on their own.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

It is a 5 year course consisting of 10 semesters. The subjects are so distributed between the semesters that the student gets good amount of knowledge of almost all the fields of law. It is a mix of theory and practical. Moot courts are organised for students which gives a practical aspect of law along with the regular classes. Though there is no in-campus placement but the alumni of the college is very strong which in turn provides good job opportunities.

Placement Experience

1

The college doesn't provide in-campus placement or internships. Students have to look for it on their own. However the alumni network of the college is very good so students can find various job and internship opportunity within the alumni network.

College Events

3.5

We have one cultural festival every year celebrated during the winter. Each year the festival has a different name. The college also conducts debate competition and various moot Court competitions from time to time. We also have certain workshops on various aspects of law.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees has to be paid every 6 months. The fees is very nominal as the college is a government college. People coming from low income families can also avail for scholarship and subsidy. The college fees has to be paid in cash. The breakdown of the fees is clearly provided in the fees card.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't opted for any scholarship or education loan because I didn't need it. The college provide scholarships to those students who come from a poor background. The college also provides subsidy in study material to those people who are not that well to do.

Campus Life

4

The college is a peaceful place. There is a moderate mix of both the genders. Birthdays are celebrated inside the college by the other students inside the college and there is no restriction in this card however we have to keep the college clean. Though there is party politics but it's not forceful. Students who are willing to take part can take part. It's not forced on students. There is no discrimination of any kind.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

No, I haven't opted for hostel because I live in Kolkata itself. The college doesn't have its own hostel. However there are certain private PGs nearby which provides facilities like laundry and a mess.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors of the college are very helpful. They provide guidance on how to study and how to find internship. The alumni network is very strong because it is a very old college. Most students find jobs and internship within the alumni network itself

Admission

I got admission into this college by clearing an entrance exam conducted by Calcutta University itself. I was always inclined towards law so I Choose this course. I Choose this institution because it had morning timings from 6:30-10:30 added with it's experience. It is affiliated to one of the oldest universities of India and it's library is too good. It's timings are also great because the college ends at 10:30 so after that you can pursue any other course or hobby of your own choice.

Faculty

4.5

There are more than 10 lecturers in the course. All of them are well equipped with knowledge in their respective fields. They all have PHD degrees in law. They are very knowledgeable and student friendly. Many of them are or have beenpracticing lawyers too which helps the students to know about the practical side of law.

Placements are given. But not what students dreamed of. Everyone gets opportunity to sit on interview and get placed. To perform good in interview our university has included boot camps in our routine which helps in improving our interview skills. Students in their last year get offers for jobs from university but students are not getting job offers as they excepted.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen B.A.LLB(Hons.) because I want to have knowledge of law because laws form the basis of society. Moreover, I had an Arts Background therefore, it was a good combination for me to explore and go according to my desired path of career. The count of faculty members of IILS is an approximation of 20-30 teachers and the students each semester is near about 70-100. The teachers are truly well versed in their respective subjects and they're immensely knowledgeable and friendly, they try hard to make us understand in the easiest manner. But the only problem is that the faculties are not permanent, it keeps on changing. The term examinations were always on time except for the lockdown time but this was also managed smoothly within time. In order to know the difficulties I would share a fact and i.e., when I took admission in my Institute there was a total number of 140 students in my semester but no sooner than the first exam held half of them failed and now we're 70 of us.
