Remarks

Good atmosphere for academic and extra curricular activities. But yes, curriculum is quite rigorous and mentally strenuous. So if one decides to come here, he/she has to be ready to be able to tolerate extremes of academic pressure.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

AIIMS is an autonomous institute. So the curriculum varies in different AIIMS. The following is the one in our institute: Total course is of 5 and half years including 1 year of compulsory rotatory internship. There are 4 professional exams conducted by the College itself at the end of each year. 1st, 3rd and 4th yrs have 2 semesters each whereas 2nd yr has 3 semesters. So professional exams are there at the end of 2nd semester (1st prof), 5th semester (2nd prof), 7th semester (3rd prof), 9th semester (4th prof). Internal exams (mid semester and end semester exams) are held every semester. If n exams are held, one needs to get atleast 50% in (n-1) exams for that year to be eligible to sit in the respective prof. Classes are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Lunch break is from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Curriculum is very rigorous and tiring.

Placement Experience

4.5

Since it is a medical College there is no role of any company here. Internship is within the College itself. Stipend is currently about Rs. 23000 per month for the interns according to central govt. pay scale

College Events

4

Annual College Fest - Chiasma: Biggest Festival of east India. More than 2000 people come from outside to attend this. There are literary, cultural, sports and informal events. Also there are pro nites. TEDx: Selective people excelling in various fields come to deliver speeches and motivate the audience. Wissen: Annual academic workshop for College and school students. Annual Day: Celebration of the beginning of the College. It has literary, cultural and sports events, followed by 1 grand night. Convocation: Handing out degrees to the students Various festivals are also celebrated: Holi, Diwali, Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja, Sankranti and so on.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Very feasible. It's a one time payment for total course All figures in Rs.: 1. Reg fee - 25 2. Caution money - 100 3. Tuition fee - 1350 4. Lab fee - 90 5. Student Union fee - 63 6. Hostel Rent - 990 7. Gymkhana fee - 220 8. Pot fund - 1320 9. Electricity charges - 198 10. Mess security - 500 11. Hostel security - 1000

Fees and Financial Aid

No scholarship or loan facility is available in any of the AIIMS. This is because the College and hostel fees is already very low. So even students from very weak economic background have never found it a problem.

Campus Life

4

Labs are good. We have 2 badminton courts, 1 tennis court, 1 volleyball court, 1 basketball court, 1 cricket ground, and 1 football ground. Table tennis and chess is also there. Gender ratio is poor. About 2/3rd are boys. There is enormous student diversity with people coming from all parts of India from various cultures and religions.

Hostel Facilities

4

Single rooms available for all except 1st yr students, who are given accommodation in double rooms. All basic amenities including geyser is present. For UGs, washroom is common. For PGs, they have attached washroom.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful. They will always be the guiding hand. Since the College is relatively new, alumni is not well established. There is Students Union and Resident Doctors Association. Most of the College activities are by Students Union.

Admission

I got admission here through the AIIMS Entrance Exam. Till 2019 this was the exam for admission to all AIIMS. Now from 2020 onwards NEET will be the entrance exam for all medical Colleges throughout India. Ill describe my admission process. After the results were out, there were 3 rounds of online counselling, in which one is required to fill up choices of various AIIMS according to preference. After these 3 rounds, open counselling was held at AIIMS New Delhi, which is offline. I chose MBBS as it was my dream to become a doctor since my childhood.

Faculty

3.5

There are various kinds of faculty. All are very well qualified, but teaching ability differs. Some teach with great proficiency. Others maybe excellent in their fields, but not that good in teaching students. Overall faculty is quite good here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is well organized by the authorities based on the latest medical aspect of our society. Practical classes and regular postings in hospital helps in better understanding. Being the only hospital in nearby cities, our hospital provides us a good exposure to varity of cases. Our Associate proff and HODs also look upto them and help us gain more real world experience. The best aspect of this field or if I have to say Why have I chose it is to serve the society. Absence of well qualified doc at the times of emergency is one of the leading causes of mortality in developing countried like India. Being in this profession, I just want to help people around me.
