Remarks

Good quality education provided with training us to develop our skills. Negative is not to improve placements which is not in the hands of our college as my course in particular has very less exposure in India, which can only be developed in future.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course structure was perfectly planned, allowing the students to concentrate more on research in the final semester with only one major paper. To be honest, the entire course left us occupied with assignments, internals, workshops, internship and exams. We did chill during cultural and other co-curricular programs.

Placement Experience

3.5

To be honest, Job opportunities for our course very less, inspite of which we did have placements. Also, we have one month internships to be completed as part of our course in various hospitals in Chennai.

College Events

5

Inter collegiate cultural celebrated in which various colleges are invited for participation. In september, we celebrate National Nutrition Week, during which every day an awarness program is conducted along with different competitions conducted. Festivals like Christmas, Onam, etc are celebrated. Also, there are some specific days like Twin day, Mismatch day, Prop day, Ethnic day and College day are celebrated involving every student.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible, The fee structure depends on course and the facilities provided by the department to cover all the needs of the curriculum. We had tution fee, lab fee, etc. Since we had cooking as a part of our course, that expenses were also included in the fee structure.

Fees and Financial Aid

We have government scholarship and We did get little amount to carry out research varying based on the course. I haven't availed any scholarship during my course time. There is also non - governmental scholarship provided to students carrying out research falling under certain criteria.

Campus Life

5

Women's college consisting of students coming from various places, following different religions, ethnicity, speaking their own languages and economic status. We were not shown any discrimination. I follow a religion where I wear veil everyday in college and no one questioned me or forced me to remove it inside the campus.

Alumni/Alumna

Every year an alumni meet is conducted where students who studied nearly 30 years back or more come and re - visit their memories and enjoy programs conducted by present Senate. Alumni members also fund the college.

Admission

I had two options for course selection either Food Science and Nutrition or Food Service Management & Dietetics, I Choose the later one as I was more interested in management. The selection was very tedious and strict.

Faculty

5

All faculties in my department are well qualified with PhD degree and are so involved which inspired us to put our 100% for our course. Faculties go out of their way searching for workshops, extra seminars by specialised individuals in a particular subject to help us in improving knowledge and get their insight.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It covers all core Chemistry subjects with good lab work. I chose this course for strong academics and research scope. The syllabus helps for higher studies and competitive exams like NET, SET. Practicals help in real applications. Exams are held each semester. Difficulty is moderate and most students clear easily,More workshops and industry training can be added for improvement.

There is one end semester exam and 2 CIAs in one year.Endsem is for 100m and CIAs are 40marks each . There is one assignment for each CIA for 10m each. So totally both the CIA together is 100 marks. Then the average of CIA and end semester is calculated if 40 or above it's pass otherwise you have to reappear. The subjects are not at relevant as computer science keeps changing regularly.

Admission to all the M.Sc courses of Women's Christian College is based on the merit of the qualifying examination. Since admission is based on academic merit, students with higher marks are selected.
