Remarks

The College is the first Christian community college in Kollam. That doesn't mean that Christians are preferred. All religions and caste are welcome in the college. The main problem was the timing. 8:30-4:30 but now the timing have changed. Neat dressing is compulsory. We have uniforms. Clean shave is a must.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I studied B. Tech under Kerala University. Its not good. The exam times are all messed up. The exams usually takes place afternoon. Its provides us with some time for study or revision. The results take too much time. Sometimes almost 6 months.

Placement Experience

2.5

During my time there was no placements. The college tried for it. But the institute being new and all, the companies were not particularly interested. The college allows students to go for internship. We have to find the companies on our own. It will usually be unpaid internship. No stipend.

College Events

3.5

Like all college, we also celebrate the holidays. Onam, Christmas, Annual day, Arts day. Onam is celebrated in Kerala only. Onam celebration is with the usual 'athapookalam', and tug-of-war. There is also various onam games. Onam is celebrated usually 1 day. Christmas is celebrated before December 25. It is also 1 day celebration with carol, Santa etc the usual shebang. Annual day and Arts day are celebrates usually for 2 days. There is also Sports day

Fee Structure And Facilities

Bishop Jerome Institute is a private college. Cost is approximately 80k rupees per year. It is not too much or too cheap. There is also scholarship for students. Concession is also given to students according to their financial background.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship is given by our college. The more studious students get the education scholarship. Not free education but they have to pay very less compared to the fee. Selected students also get fee concession according to the financial background of the student. Do not know about the loan system

Campus Life

5

The college promotes extracurricular activities. There is sports day for holding competition like tracks, basket ball, cricket etc. There is also a basket ball court in front of the college. There is also a ground for football/ cricket. Various classes are conducted by department on various topics. For electronics there was PCB classes, Robotics Class etc.

Alumni/Alumna

My seniors was good and co operative. There is no ragging in the campus. Alumnis are helpful when contacted. The usually posts about various job opening in the companies that they are working. We have a alumni group on Whatsapp. Usually the posting comes on this group.

Admission

I got admission through merit seat. I opted for B Tech,ECE( Electronics and Communication ) engineering. I love electronics and thought i could expand my knowledge. B. Tech was not at all what i expected it to be. It is more of a theory study. Practical knowledge is low.

Faculty

3

Like all institutions, this institution also has good and bad. This college was relatively a new college compared to other B. tech institutions. Bishop Jerome Institute also provides MBA from KTU. The teachers are fresh with not that much experience.

Placement Experience:

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
