Remarks

Overall availability of better infrastructure as well as faculty make this a great place to learn. Being a central University, it enjoys good funds from Central government and those are passed on the students in form of various perks like low fee,low dorm charges etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is standardized as per ICAR. There are ample research opportunities and the necessary equipments and field as well as guiding expertise. We have 2 lectures of 1.5 hrs each and then laboratory and field work for 2 hours each day. The schedule isn't much hectic.

Placement Experience

2.5

In agriculture field, private companies expect experience and offer mostly target related jobs. Our University offers unpaid internships in various government agencies related to seed. Several tie ups are there to facilitate cross learning.

College Events

3

Being a central University, it hosts a number of events all round the year.like Inter University sports meet, mahotsav, dance competition, science quiz trekking expeditions etc. Over 10thousand students gather in many fields of the university.

Fee Structure And Facilities

My fee is Tution - INR 6500 PER ANNUM Hostel - INR 3500 PER ANNUM Mess - INR 36000 PER ANNUM EXAMINATION - INR 850 PER SEMESTER Gym - INR 40 PER ANNUM OF WHICH INR 2000 IS REFUNADABLE AS CAUTION MONEY

Fees and Financial Aid

I didn't avail any scholarships though scholarships are available for economic backward students through exams available.also female students can avail scholarship via DDU YOJNA FOR GIRLS. As the fee is realtively low, most of the students don't need scholarships.

Campus Life

4

Gender ratio is pretty good as compared to other universities. I didn't see any discrimination in duration of my stay. Caste and religion don't matter in our University. Economic status isn't quite prosperous as the whole region has no major economic development.

Hostel Facilities

4

Facilities are sufficient for a comfortable stay.each room houses 2 students and is equipped with 2 chairs,2 tables,2 tubelights,2 beds etc. Newspaper and magazines are available on daily basis as well as tv for infotainment

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful And mentor us well.several noted alumnus are giving us guidance regarding research. My seniors helped me with my trail as well as theisis work which is of utmost importance to the Master's degree.

Admission

Seed Science and Technology is one of the basic subjects in agriculture field. The department here is welcoming and has a relatively fewer batch strength so emphasis on each student is higher. location also played an important role in choice of school. I got enrolled here owing to my interest in Himalayan and Sub - Himalayan region crops. Enrollment in department of seed Science and technology is purely on the basis of performance in entrance exam conducted each year by the university. Almost a thousand students appear and top 90-100 students are called in for counseling and Ultimately only 17 of them get admitted. The entrance exam has questions based on agriculture and basics of seed biology.

Faculty

4

Our Head Of Department has 17 years experience of teaching in various disciples related to seed. He has been an assistant professor in botany as well as agriculture. Assistant professors are well qualified and will definitely quench ur knowledge thirst. For 17(juniors)and 17(seniors) there are 2 assistant professors and a professor.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have done my Bachelors in Agriculture so I was more of interested in plant physiology ,genetics ,breeding and seed pathology etc, so as seed science is a part of this course I have chosen this course. The course helps in many real world experiences as we perform field work , we have done work on millets as 2023 was the international year of millets, we have started work on seed priming in lab , started multilocational trials on wheat, millets , started work on seed pathology on various vegetables etc. The improvements needed in course is that the timing of our main exam given is only 2 hrs and the 4 long answers questions are ti be written which is of 15 marks respectively which should be increased.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the curriculum included a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. fieldwork, internships, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and industrial workshops enhance real-world applicability. the scientific and research methods we learn prepare us for further academic careers in research. improvements: practicing modern agricultural techniques like digital farming, drones or aeroponics will prepare us for our future endeavors. we had the semester system, where the exams were spaced out by 6 months. we had a total of 8 semesters. the difficulty level was normal to medium but the marking by the university was very harsh.

Remarks:

Let's start with the negative remarks. The attendance policy is something that needs to be changed. The scope for research and extra curricular activities gets hampered due to the attendance policy. The hostel facilities needs to be improved and certain hostel regulations needs to be changed. The positive side obviously would include the faculty available and the experience and exposure they share. The scope of higher studies is good enough.
