Remarks
I had taken an entrance test but not able to fill that section. ALL INDIA ENTRANCE TEST (ranked in top 30) College management needs to improve. The teachers are doing their jobs pretty well. The issue is an ample amount of money charged and zero returns.
Course Curriculum Overview
No, the curriculum isn't well drafted. As the course demands more practical knowledge than theoretical. I can understand to know practical knowledge, the theory is very important but we have two years in our masters which could be utilised very well. In real-world for jobs are practical knowledge and experience in the field is what all recruitment cells look for not the ranking.
Placement Experience
Not at all good. There were no good opportunities. As paying so many fees and getting a 10k to 12k per month job isn't any student looks forward to. As a renowned institute, D. Y Patil should have contacts with better companies like Reliance Coupland Biocon Lupid Serum institute of India. There should be placement drives held. The students must be prepared for the drive and then given an opportunity to go through the recruitment process, clearing rounds come to personal interviews negotiation for salary and then getting into the firms. Nothing of such thing happened during my year of post graduation.
College Events
Species was very well celebrated the only event we thoroughly enjoyed. Not anymore I could recall of. Management festival I wouldn't add much. But I think when they are charging us for the degree certificates as well they should have provided us with AT LEAST water and snacks for free and our own gowns.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Way too expensive as compared to after benefits. If I am paying a certain amount to college, that was not well utilised at all. We were charged en the number of times for many things. At least the hope was once we get good placements from the college things would be easy and we would recover the amount invested. But no, I would not at all encourage this pattern of money making
Fees and Financial Aid
Due to good academic work, I was offered scholarship by college for specific semester. Eligibility criteria was top 2 performers of the batch would get the reward
Campus Life
Not at all enthusiastic or encouraging. Diversity and liberty wasn't assured as much by the teachers. All professors focused on good academic grades and no particular extra curriculum activities were encouraged by the school. I was a national level Basketball Player myself but no particular opportunities were provided by the college.
Alumni/Alumna
No! not at all helpful. I tried utilise the network to help out fellow college mates to get a job I myself applied to various job applications posted by other alumni but not that fruitful as expected.
Admission
Wanted to pursue Genetic Engineering more on depth. During my graduation in Biotechnology, I developed an interest in the field of Molecular Biology and thus specifically wanted to do a specialisation masters. Hence, I researched about the course and found that only D. Y. Patil University, School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, CBD-Belapur, Navi Mumbai had this course MSc. Genetic Engineering
Faculty
All the professors were well efficient in their field of expertise. But I wish Bioinformatics was very structured practically. We knew nothing about the subject until I myself took efforts of pursuing it further after post-graduation. We were taught only theory no practical experience in the field was provided. After pursuing it further I ended up becoming a trainer myself in the field of Bioinformatics.
