Remarks
I have only positive reviews with some suggestions like getting better placement opportunities, assisting people who cannot pay fees on time, providing moral support to those in desperate need and staff helping out students who need proper guidance and not only the toppers who they always prefer.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum dealt completely with physics and didnt relate to any of the mechanics that an engineer would require and use in an industry. The course curriculum provided knowledge enough to clear the theory in any interview and not the experience and hands-on related questions that the industry asks for.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunities are good but the department we chose was wrong. They didn't offer us much options and entry was restricted for other department to get into the companies that they deaired to attend interviews for. This served as a limitation to get jobs we wished for.
College Events
The main events were Symposiums where college students from all over India came to participate. DJ nights to dance around and have fun. Conferences and workshops with talks by eminent people in laser industries and many such similar events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was manageable as it was only for two years. The fees have been hiked since the year i left and well it has been almost doubled. We had completed our course in 2018 with 2 lakhs as the base amount but now its almost 3.5 lakhs.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships were offered for merit students who came through GATE and some scholarships were offered for scheduled caste and backward caste students. Scholarships were provided for course work as well for PhD students and JRF trainees.
Campus Life
Extra curricular activities were actually a big deal. Tournaments are held every year for events like cricket, football, badminton, chess and several games with boys and girls included. Several symposiums were also conducted with conferences galore.
Hostel Facilities
I hadnt opted for the hostel because of some of the stories that I had heard from the students who stay there. Water was an issue and living arrangements were strained as there were 6 people in the room but friends were many and good.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors were very helpful as they offered past year question papers, curriculum vital information, assisted in visits to industries, research lines and even assisted in company placements and other necessary resources.
Admission
We had to write an entrance exam named TANCET and then you are called for counseling based on the marks you score. Once your counseling is done, you can select the college you want to attend and then enroll into it. Optional exams include: GATE.
Faculty
The faculty had no external interaction apart from the course work they had to teach us. Lab interactions enabled small discussions. Apart from that they had helped us in getting interviews and Industrial visits in laser based companies.
