Remarks
My journey with the KIMS college was pretty eccentric. I learned a lot, gained a lot and all the while enjoying myself. Finance being my major area of concern, helped me get a better grasp of the things and methods of financial management. College infrastructure, in fact, the entire campus was lit with positive vibes uplifting your mood and providing an ideal setup for learning. Extracurricular activities were limited though, but it helped us dedicate more time to learning.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our curriculum was prescribed by the Karnataka University and it is updated at a regular interval. We studied different subjects during our 2 years course duration, but our main focus was the field of financial management which was my specialization. Our curriculum was pretty informative and with the help of our esteemed faculty members, we were able to understand the perks and benefits of different sectors.
Placement Experience
Our training and placement cell is responsible for creating job opportunities for the students. Apart from that they also organize guest lectures, industry visits, and internship interviews for the students. Some fairly small scale companies visit our campus during the placement drive. Some of these companies include Century Link, East India Securities, Kotak Insurance, Airbus, etc. Though the packages offered still have a lot of improvement. On average, students get a salary package of around INR 25k -35k per month which was okayish.
Campus Life
Our campus was lush green and infrastructure itself was pretty great and furnished. It was digitized where it needed to be, like the library, computer labs, etc. Even in the case of sports, our college provided sports gear for sports like Basketball, Table Tennis, Tennis (Two Courts), Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, indoor Badminton Court, 400 mts. Standard Track and other training gadgets.
Admission
Admission to the MBA program at KIMS is granted on the basis of PGCET entrance exam scores. Shortlisted students have to attend the counseling process conducted by VTU. On the basis of merit in the entrance exam and academic record. I opted for this college because this college is closer to my house and I was able to give sufficient time to my family and course and that too at a pretty reasonable price.
Faculty
Our faculty was pretty much updated with the latest curriculum and the updates in their respective field of expertise. We learned a lot from them, both personally and professionally. Especially the finance and asset management faculty were pure gems. Mode of teaching mostly included case study analysis and ppt presentations and assignments.
