Remarks

Positives: -Large campus; going from one end of the college for clinical postings and running to the other end to attend theory classes, though very tiring I feel it is a special trait in this college. -Large number of patients: huge opportunity to learn from them. -Well equipped library, which is open 24/7 -Experienced staff. Negatives: -Staff not very regular in engaging classes. - Poor Administration of the academic part. -No strong representation of students (like students union)

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

With recent modifications in the curriculum MBBS course has become more practical and skill oriented. I wish this change happened when I joined in my first year. There will be 3 internal tests both in theory and practicals. A percentage of these marks will be added to the final graduating exam that will be conducted annually, which also comprises Theory and practical exams. The exam part of MBBS is really exhausting and tiring.

Placement Experience

4.5

No placement or jobs as this is a government institution. But you will have to do a One year internship program which is a part of the curriculum only after which you will be graduated. During internship you will be paid ?20,000 a month. And never expect stipend at the beginning of every month. You the in once in 3 months all put together

College Events

4

Freshers Day : A orientation program to the new comers. Don’t have much significance. College Day: Conducted every year in the month of October or September. Which includes Sports, Culture, Literary and other events. Every three there will be a Intercollege fest for which students of other medical colleges participate. Karnataka Rajyotsava. Graduation Day. Ganesh Chaturthi.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it is a government college the fee is reasonable. But it has increased when compared to the last year. The present fee is around ?60,000 per Annum.(not exact but near about) And a hostel and food bill of around ?2,500.

Fees and Financial Aid

Government provides scholarship to all students whose parents income is less than ?3,00,000(not very sure) called e pass, from which you can get total reimbursement of both college and hostel fees. You can also apply for other scholarships applicable personally for you through the college.

Campus Life

3

Sports: College has a good playground. There are a good number of students who have excelled in University level sports. There are no special coaches but students excel quite well. College is equipped with a good gym, tennis court and badminton court. Extra curricular activities: The keep taking place along with special event happening in the college.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel rooms quite good. As it is a government college can’t expect much. But they are not too bad. There is a separate hostel for 1st year students. And separate hostel for girls. One need not bother about the quality of the food as the food section is managed by students themselves.

Alumni/Alumna

It is difficult to expect a aluminium group for a government college. But there is actually an Alumni group though not very active at the present. The alumni have gathered funds and built a guest house in the campus long back.

Admission

You have to secure quite a decent rank in NEET. Following which there will be a online counselling for seat allotment conducted by the KEA of Government of Karnataka. After you are allotted seat in particular college you have to reach the college and submit the original documents along with attested photocopies before the prescribed dates.

Faculty

3.5

Most of the staff are highly knowledgeable and experienced. But they won’t teach you unless you show extraordinary interest in learning things. The more you fall behind them to take classes the more you learn from them. The won’t care if nobody bother to learn, they do their job and leave the place.

The curriculum is as per RGUHS Banglore which adequately prepared students for real world experience. The teaching methods need to be more competitive with case study of patients. The internal exams are conducted thrice in a year giving exposure to students.

Sat for the NEET exam and cleared it. Marks were good enough so got the college in 3rd of counseling. I also gave AIIMS and JIPMER exam as well.
