Entrance Exam-IIT JEERank - 4135I opted for this college because it was close to my home city, the best branch I got in that rank was here.

The course curriculum was pretty much hectic in the first year but that was the same for all the branches. While preparing for JEE my aim was to get a chemical branch and then going for an MBA which incidentally I got by choosing Process Engineering and MBA here in IIT Roorkee. After 2nd year each semester had one management course and the last year was fully related to MBA. The faculty was quite awesome except for a few.

I did two internships during my college period. One during my 3rd-year summer, one of my professors helped me get that intern in 3M with a stipend of 6k monthly. The other I managed by myself for which I didn't get any stipend but it helped me get the job in fact PPO.

The placement times were among the most amazing times during my stay at IIT Roorkee. I prepared for the whole semester for placements and I got the job in the first company I sat for on day 2. The job was the result of my second internship as I had mentioned earlier but it was amazing to have a fear of not getting placed and all that.

We had lots of events from time to time. There was an annual cultural festival - Thomso, the annual technical festival Cognizance. I was in the hobbies club so there we events related to art, photography, dramatics, dance, music nights. You can say we had atleast 2 events every month.

As it is a government college so fees were not much expensive around 50k for the semester.

Being in IITs means your parents don't have many burdens of your fees but still you can avail of loans or qualify for various scholarships. Scholarship: annual tuition fee waived off - if you are in the top 25 %of your batch 2. There are certain scholarships given by the alumni yearly for outstanding students in different fields like sports, art, or academia. Easy Loans are also available to students.

The gender ratio of IITs is pathetic 1:10. The campus life will be fun if you took part in any sports regularly or be a member of any club. I was part of various activities apart from academia which was Himalayan Explorer club, hobbies club (fine art), Mess councilor. I played all the games in college which includes cricket (first-year NSO) football(part of gold medalist team in the second year - goalkeeper) hockey (played for bhawan team) volleyball and basketball. All the clubs were both for boys and girls. there is no gender inequality in IIT'S. We had elections at the start of every year so anyone interested in politics can enjoy a lot during those days.

The hostel I was in was amazing, we were allotted single rooms so there was no problem with privacy :-P. But it depends upon the authorities as they allot the hostels there are some hostels which you can never even dream.

The Alumni network of IIT ROORKEE is among the best in IIT's. We have various clubs that organize alumni meet from time to time during the technical fest. There is various groups made on social media and also a totally functional alumni website. (IITR ALMACONNECT). The seniors are the mentors throughout college life for everything be it studies, events, or chapo(parties).

The exam structure was pretty much flexible we can discuss with the exam coordinating professor and tell him when we want to schedule the papers. Although the dates were fixed we could change the priority of exam subjects. The exams in our first two years.
