Vellore medical College

This college has several medical departments and it provide tertiary health care.It is patient friendly. This college is a new college just 15 years old but the development of this college is very fast. Now a new department Geriatrics has also started. The overall experience is good.

MBBS is a 4.5 years course. After finishing we have to do 1 year internship. It is one of the most respected course. Exam structure- Here exams are yearly. There will be theory, practical and viva voce. One has to pass compulsory in theory exam. Minimum pass mark is 50 percent.

It is a government college so there is no placement. We have to write competitive exams to get a job. Yes my college provide internship for 1 year. My experience of internship is awesome and very useful. My stipend is 20000 rupees per month.

We conduct many continued medical education programs,cultural program (Synapse) and sports event in the campus. For these events many medical colleges participate in the events. The college authorities contribute for these events.

Fees structure is feasible. Fees is very much affordable as it is a government college. Yearly the tuition fees is about 10000 to 15000 rupees only. It varies for each academic year. Book fees and mess fees will come around 10000 and 50000 rupees respectively yearly.

The college helps in getting scholarship for eligible students.The college helps in getting educational loan for the students who could not afford to pay the fee. I avail state government scholarship.

My college has so much of extra curricular activities other than academics. We play sports like cricket, basketball, foot ball, table tennis, Badminton, throw ball, volley ball, carrom and chess. We also participate in intercollege sports, culturals and quiz programs.

My interaction with my alumni is great.The college provide a proper platform for student-alumni interaction. My alumni contribute in the overall development of the college as well as the students. I am in touch with my alumni and seniors and are very helpful in my studies and my practical life.

I got admission by merit. First we have to apply for this course based on the cutoff marks rank list will be published. Then we have to attend the counseling. Based on the ranking one has to choose the college he/she wants admission.

The faculties working here are well qualified, well trained and highly experienced. They are professionals. There are tutors, assistant professors, assocate professors and professors.They are very interactive with students. The standard of teaching is high.
