Yes, IGNOU offers decent BSc courses. Although it is a distance learning degree, the course work is heavy. You will have to submit assignments and attend practical classes regularly. IGNOU has a strict evaluation system. You need to go thoroughly through the study materials to score well. Pursuing the degree along with a full-time job or full-time degree will be hectic. So, if you are planning on pursuing a BSc degree, it will be better to do a regular degree instead.

IGNOU is a national open university that offers open, distance, and online modes of education. The institute is approved by NCTE and AICTE. It carries out most of its evaluations via self-assessment, assignments, and term-end examinations.

The following points discuss certain parameters that one should know, before deciding to pursue a B. Sc degree at the institute.

Eligibility:

The institute offers a B.Sc (general) degree program for a duration of 3 to 6 years.
Students need to have a 10+2 equivalent in science or related field in order to qualify for the program.
It charges a total course fee of INR 12,500. This fee is exclusive of the registration and examination fee.

Course structure:

Students can choose any three from a variety of disciplines that include botany, chemistry, zoology, geography, geology, mathematics, and physics.
Next, the core courses and elective courses have to be specific to the three disciplines selected above.
Laboratory work is compulsory.
Students will learn topics including biodiversity, plant ecology, atom structure, petrology, etc. depending on the discipline chosen.

Placements:

The institute has a dedicated placement cell that helps students increase their job placement opportunities and further their careers.
