1. A CAT score of 97+ is typically required for IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay.

2. Having 2-3 years of work experience can give you extra points during the admission process. However, keep in mind that more experience in IT may reduce your chances in fields like Finance or Marketing. Companies often prefer candidates with less than 3 years of experience.

3. The fee structure is lower compared to IIMs. You can find the latest fee details on their website, but it shouldn't exceed 10 lakhs.

4. Placement opportunities are strong at both IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, often surpassing those of some newer IIMs.

5. One downside is that you won't have the 'IIM' tag.

If you're looking at doing an MBA at IIT Delhi, you should know that the tuition fee is approximately 8 lakhs for most students. For SC/ST candidates, it's even better since there’s no tuition fee. Don’t forget the hostel fee, which is about 50 thousand per semester. Considering the amazing placement records and the companies that visit for recruitment, it feels like a good value for the investment.

Here’s the breakdown of fees for MBA students at IIT Delhi for Semester 1 in the 2023–24 academic year:

While this includes adjustments for JOSAA counseling fees and some one-time security deposits, it does not cover mess charges.

The breakdown for the second semester (General/OBC with Annual Family income > ? 5 Lakh) is as follows:

  • ? 1,05,750 for Tuition & Exams
  • ? 26,800 for Mess
  • ? 13,250 for Hostel accommodation

This totals to ? 1,45,800!

The largest portion of the fees is, of course, the tuition fee (as shown above).

(I'm not even aware of what the Student Distress Fund Scheme is or that it exists!)

Additionally, there are multiple scholarship opportunities available once you are at IIT Delhi, which is a topic worth discussing separately.

The total cost for the MBA at IIT Delhi, specifically in the Department of Management Studies, is around 8 lakhs for General and OBC candidates. If you're from the SC/ST category, there's no tuition fee, which is a big relief. Plus, you need to budget around 50 thousand for hostel fees each semester. So, overall, it’s quite a substantial investment, but the returns in terms of placements and opportunities are definitely worth it!

Pursuing an MBA at IIT Delhi will set you back around 8 lakhs for tuition if you're from the General or OBC category. For SC/ST students, tuition is waived off, which is fantastic. The hostel fee each semester is around 50 thousand, so that's something to keep in mind. With the kind of placements we get, including offers from top firms, it seems like a smart investment for our future!
