Another downside of studying at RNSIT is the limited extracurricular activities and events. While there are a few major fests like Pantheon and Parichay, the frequency and quality of these events often leave much to be desired. Many students feel that there should be more opportunities for cultural engagement and technical events to enhance our college experience.

The campus life can feel a bit dull at times due to the lack of vibrant activities and events throughout the year.

Just like several other Bangalore colleges, RNSIT is a tier 2 institution under VTU, so the college name itself doesn't carry much prestige. The teaching staff is pretty average; some departments have better teachers, while others don't. They mostly stick to the syllabus without focusing much on deep learning. Some departments, like IS, are known for being quite strict, whereas others are more relaxed. For example, CS students can take longer internships without attendance issues, which isn't the case for IS students.

Being a VTU college means the syllabus changes frequently, which can be frustrating. Students often scramble for notes, textbooks, and assignments. VTU now requires all three internals to be taken, so you're busy with them, along with the final exams and regular assignments, throughout the semester. The principal, director, and vice principal are nice, but for attendance and internal marks, you have to deal with your department's head, so they can't really help.

The student culture isn't great either. Many students aren't really interested in learning engineering or technology; they just want to pass exams any way they can, often seen glued to their phones. The college doesn't do much to encourage internships, coding, or projects, nor does it help with improving skills or getting jobs at product-based companies. They seem more focused on producing VTU gold medalists. My friends at RVCE, BMSCE, and PESU are doing interesting projects and internships, but here, it's mostly about filling out assignments.

When it comes to placements, the college survives largely because of mass recruiters like Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, and TCS. Some core companies visit for EC and Mech, but the pay isn't great. CS and IS branches do get good offers, though some companies only hire CS students. Amazon visits regularly, and SAP Labs and One Direct are also good.

Some less critical issues include the architecture, which isn't appealing, making the buildings look like they're painted white for mourning. The RNS PU college students crowd the place, making it tough to grab food from the canteen during lunch. And the cricket ground seems better suited for growing grass than playing sports.

The main disadvantage of RNSIT is the high fee structure, especially for students coming through the management quota, which can be as high as 6 lakhs per year for courses like Computer Science. Even for those who join through CET, the fees can still be around 1 lakh per year, which can be a burden for many students.

Additionally, the curriculum can feel outdated at times, as it follows the VTU syllabus, which doesn't always align with current industry trends. This can limit our exposure to modern technologies and practical applications, making it difficult to stay relevant in the job market.

RNSIT has quite a few downsides to consider.

Let's dive into it. First off, even though the college boasts a fantastic and well-kept playground, it's mostly there to impress parents and students with its impressive campus. In reality, nobody seems to actually use it. Instead, students end up in a barren area at the back for any games. The poor PE teacher often gets mocked by students, but he just brushes it off, ignoring it like a pro.

You'll also find many rude students whose mission seems to be turning polite students into troublemakers, though I have managed to keep three good friends.

Fights are a common sight every other day, sometimes getting pretty intense, but rest assured, you’ll survive. Additionally, you’ll encounter people from other places getting involved in these fights without even knowing why.

From an academic perspective, the college is just average. There are only a few lecturers who speak decent English and can connect with students. However, we have this one staff member, lovingly nicknamed KATAPPA, who’s quite a character. He’s faster than anyone else, with a unique style that makes him popular among students.

While the non-teaching staff are extremely friendly, dealing with the admin staff is a different story. But don’t worry, they’re not too bad. The main issue is with the administrative officer, who is a bit of a tough nut. He’s infamous for his strict demeanor, similar to Garuda from the KGF movie, though not quite the same in appearance. He’s very focused on students passing their exams and is thrilled by high scores.

On the bright side, the canteen serves good food at reasonable prices, which is a definite plus.

Thanks for reading through this.

Lastly, the placement opportunities, while decent, can be misleading. Although the college claims high placement rates, many students struggle to secure good packages, especially in branches like Civil Engineering. The average package is around 4-6 LPA, which isn't very competitive compared to other colleges. Furthermore, the assistance offered by the placement cell may not be sufficient for students who are not proactive in developing their skills and networking, which can lead to frustration for those looking for better job offers.
