What is your review of RNS Institute of Technology RNSIT?

My time at RNSIT for the Bachelor of Engineering (Cyber Security) course has been quite mixed. While I appreciate the curriculum's relevance to current trends, the internal exam frequency feels overwhelming. We have three internals each month, which can be quite hectic.

Placement opportunities seem promising, with many companies like Infosys and Adobe visiting for recruitment. However, the highest package is around 55 lakh, but I think the average is lower. Overall, the college environment is supportive, but I feel there could be more focus on practical learning.

I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science and Engineering) at RNSIT, and my experience has been mostly positive. The curriculum includes essential programming languages and offers a solid foundation for future opportunities. The faculty is supportive and approachable, which makes a big difference when studying.

The placements appear to be decent, with companies like Infosys and Accenture recruiting here, and the highest package last year was 56 lakh. However, the hostel facilities could use some improvement, especially regarding food and living conditions. Overall, I’m content with my decision to study here.

Many folks here focus more on memorizing to score high rather than discussing new ideas. This has always been a challenge for me, and I feel stuck in this situation. I wish my college would encourage more innovative thinking or at least focus more on practical learning instead of just theory.

Just a heads up: This is based on my experience, so it's a personal take. I'd suggest you gather various opinions, weigh the pros and cons, and then decide on which college to join. Keep in mind, I'm doing my M.Tech here, not a B.E., and there's a big difference. Consider that when making your choice.

Here's the breakdown:

Campus
RNSIT is located at the far end of Bangalore, on Kengeri - Uttarahalli Road, right next to JSSATE College. The campus is huge but can feel a bit dull. There's a large field that looks inviting, but you can't really use it for anything fun except during events. Seriously, you can't even step on it on regular days. It's so well-maintained, you'd think it's only for big tournaments. In my two years here, I haven't seen anyone playing games like lagori there.

One major downside is that there's nowhere comfortable to sit on campus, not even in the canteen. You might find yourself sitting on the ground's edges, but security is always watching. It feels like you're either in class or out of the campus.

All the buildings in the RNS group look exactly the same. From the admin block to the bathrooms, you'll see the same tiles everywhere. It's pretty repetitive.

Placement
For undergrads, RNSIT offers great placement opportunities. But for postgrads, it's not as good. In recent years, placement stats show a clear difference. You can check out the list of students who got placed, along with company names and their branches on the college website.

RNSIT is no different from other colleges when it comes to placing postgrad students. Companies often avoid hiring postgrads for a few reasons. They don't want to pay a higher salary for the same role just because someone studied two extra years. Plus, companies have specific policies about job roles and qualifications.

In my class of 17, only 3 got internships, and just 1 landed a job through college placements. You can figure out the odds. My tip is: don't expect to get placed if you do a Master's at RNSIT or similar colleges unless you're exceptionally good and have some luck.

Teaching
I did my engineering at one of the not-so-great colleges in Karnataka. So, joining RNSIT, which is considered a top institute in the state, I had high hopes. But those hopes faded. Except for H. N. Shivashankar Sir, most of the teachers I encountered were average or worse. Some were really not up to the mark.
