Both the IITs have almost similar branch change procedures
For IIT Jodhpur, the rules of branch change are given as follows:
- The students should have scored at least 8.0/10 at the end of the second semester.
- Students should not have failed in any of the first or second-semester examinations, including the courses in which S/X grades are awarded.
- The strength of the branch should not be greater than 105% of its sanctioned strength or less than 90% of its existing strength.
For IIT Mandi, the rules of branch change are given as follows
- The students who want a branch change should submit an application before the end of their second semester.
- The applications are considered strictly based on the CGPA score of first-year examinations.
- The strength of a class does not exceed the sanctioned strength by more than 25% and does not fall below the existing strength by more than 20%
- The student should not be guilty of any academic misconduct.
- If any tie occurs when considering CGPA scores, they will be given the equal opportunity.
