What should I choose between an MTech CS course from IIIT Bangalore or an ME CS course from BITS Pilani?

- BITS Pilani focuses on practical learning with real-world projects. You will also get better placement opportunities upon course completion as BITS Pilani has an excellent placement cell for its CS students.
- IIIT Bangalore is still considered to be in the developing stage while the diverse community with vibrant campus life enhance the overall learning experience.
- BITS Pilani also has a very strong alumni network that aids in promising career prospects in the field of computer science.

I completed my M.Tech CS from IIIT Bangalore, and have some friends who did their ME CS from BITS Pilani.
The campus life at IIITB is in a developing stage. But masters’ students have had groomed themselves well enough during B.Tech, and their expectation during M.Tech/ME is nothing but a serious course structure. A short and hectic 2 year masters’ doesn’t really allow time for extracurriculars.
The placements for masters’ are better at IIITB. Bangalore offers plenty of opportunities, especially in the IT sector. IIITB only offers integrated M.Tech. Placements are equally good for integrated M.Tech and M.Tech students. This is not the case for BITS Pilani, where UG students are at an advantage.
I would recommend you choose IIIT Bangalore M.Tech CS over ME CS at BITS Pilani.

IIIT Bangalore is comparably better than BITS Pilani for an MTech CS. Placements for master's programs are better at IIIT B. Being located in Bangalore, the institute has a locational advantage. IIIT Bangalore MTech CSE placements 2021 witnessed the highest CTC of INR 45.6 LPA.
Since IIIT B doesn’t offer just BTech, M.Tech students get equal opportunities for placements. This isn’t the case for BITS Pilani.

Having friends from both IIIT Bangalore and BITS Pilani, I might be able to answer your question. Every one of them agrees upon BITS Pilani being slightly better than IIIT Bangalore.

- Since BITS Pilani was established years back, it has helped it gain a large network of alumni. At present, it is considered as accomplished as various other old IITs.
- IIIT Bangalore is situated at a very favorable location that helps it gain several advantages. It's considered to be better in terms of the peer group and the system it is usually associated with.
- The placements, however, at both of the institutes are somewhat considered to be on almost at the same scale.
- BITS Pilani, on the other hand, helps students in acquiring several direct internship opportunities. That is a major upside. They did not fail to achieve good placements even during the pandemic.
- The workload that you have to commonly be part of is quite very similar to what students generally see in the old IITs.
- You will have the liberty to choose the preferable elective from a pile of courses, unlike other institutes. In fact, you can opt to take up any subject from the humanities stream as well.
