Which is a better choice, IIT Mandi Mechanical, IIT Dhanbad Mechanical, or a new IIT like IIT Tirupati Electrical?

I am a third-year student at IIT Dhanbad. I’ll suggest you go for Mechanical at IIT Dhanbad.

Although the Placements in 2024 are still ongoing, the average package of the 2023 mechanical branch stands at INR 14.74 LPA, while the placement percentage is 83.52%. Some of the top companies that have given placements this year at IIT Dhanbad are- Accenture, Ericsson, Flipkart, Siemens, and Wiley Edge.

Thus, I would recommend IIT Dhanbad Mechanical over IIT Mandi Mechanical and IIT Tirupati Electrical.

Both are really good colleges. They are considered as the top 2 NITs of North India.

In CSE, a lot depends on your individual efforts.

Faculty- Both the colleges have good and average teachers.

Exposure- In terms of exposure, Jaipur takes a slight lead over Allahabad. It is a capital city with an international airport. Its location makes Jaipur a more favorable place for HRs to visit.

Infrastructure- MNIT has a better infrastructure. It offers single hostel rooms to second year students. Its campus is spread over 300 acres, and VLTC is the largest lecture hall complex in Asia. There isn’t much strictness for freshers. MNNIT is spread over 220 acres, but its hostels are in a poor condition. Even second year students are expected to live in four seater rooms. The authorities are strict towards freshers till the fresher party.

Placements- In terms of placements, MNNIT has a slight edge over MNIT Jaipur. This year, 94.47% B.Tech CS students were successfully placed from MNNIT Allahabad. The average package for them was 27.57 LPA, and the highest package was 1.35 CPA.

Both the colleges are better in one or the other aspect. You should choose the one that best suits your personal preferences.

A few of my friends graduated from IIT Mandi, IIT Dhanbad, and IIT Tirupati. Here are some facts according to their experience-

IIT ISM Dhanbad is an old institute established that was primarily a mining institute ISM.
IIT Tirupati doesn't have a permanent resident campus itself so it's not a good choice.
Now if to choose between Mandi and Dhanbad for the same branch choose Dhanbad as it is an older and well-established campus.
IIT Dhanbad Mechanical course is more preferable to the IIT Mandi Mechanical course.
