How is the MS for Computer Science at IIT Indore (faculty, placements, infrastructure, etc.)?
MS by Research in Computer Science and Engineering is a 2-year full-time PG engineering program offered by IIT Indore. The MS in Computer Science at IIT Indore is a great option if you are a research enthusiast and are willing to pursue a career in the same.
The faculty does not matter much as you will be dealing with them only during the first-semester post which you will have been assigned a professor under whom you will be doing your research work.
Placements-wise not much can be said as it’s a recently launched program and it will take a few more years to make its mark. However, the opportunities seem to be very promising.
The infrastructure is great although the campus is still undergoing development so you can expect better infrastructure in the future.
Overall, the MS in Computer Science from IIT Indore is a great option for research lovers.
How is the faculty at the IIT Delhi compared to that of the IIT Bombay?
I have friends in both institutes and from what I have heard, the IIIT Delhi faculty is quite arrogant and has no interest in teaching. The professors at IIT Delhi were very approachable during internships and expressed their willingness to work with the students and help them find their thought processes. On the other hand, IIIT Delhi professors would mock you if you were unable to answer a particular question.
A friend shared an incident at IIT Delhi when one of the professors committed an unintentional mistake and retook his interview to apologize. Your Ph.D. depends a lot on the kind of professors you work under and I will never recommend you to do a Ph.D. under such arrogant professors
What is your review of Faculty Of IIT Mandi?
I have gone through the faculty profile given on the official website of IIT Mandi. It looks similar to that of all newly established IITs, except for IIT Gn and IIT H, which are better than the others.
One of my friends is also a student of the Mechanical branch at IIT Mandi. Most of the faculty members in the Mechanical branch are married couples. One of them got a job here and after that, they recommended their spouses.
In terms of research, the branch is not that good. Most of the faculties just mug up a research paper and publish a new one. One of the faculties became associate by doing the same. If you want to pursue higher studies in Mechanical, then don’t choose IIT Mandi.
Why is BITS Pilani compared to IIT Guwahati if it seems to have a better faculty and an IIT tag?
Here are a few points pertaining to the faculty of BITS Pilani.
- The faculty pool is a mix of both good and bad professors but the quality of faculty is no less than IIT.
- The BITS tag is more exclusive because there are only 3 campuses whereas IIT has 23 campuses.
- Also, Bitsat is more competitive than JEE Advanced, so the number of aspirants per seat is pretty high, thus increasing peer quality,
- I have seen many examples of people who scored well in JEE Advanced but failed to get good marks in BITSAT.
Lastly, comparing engineering colleges is highly illogical as it is all a matter of your competence and not the institute you belong to.
How is Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering in terms of faculty members and placements?
Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering is a decent college in terms of faculty and placements. Professors are helpful and well-experienced. Each year around 90%-95% of students get placed through BVUCOE Pune campus placements. The salary packages offered are in the range of INR 2.5 LPA - 11 LPA. The recruiters' list includes names such as TCS, L&T, Jindal Steel, Voltas, etc.
How good are the professors at IIT Ropar?
The faculty at IIT Ropar is great. The majority of the professors hold a Ph.D. degree. They are cooperative and provide proper guidance in projects as well as examination preparations.
The lectures are enough for understanding the courses and you would not even need to take help from tuitions. Professors explain the topics in an easier way so that you can easily grasp their subject matter.
However, when it comes to attendance, you are required to maintain a 75% attendance. The professors are not lenient if the students miss the classes. The same goes with the assignments and presentations which need to meet the deadline. Delaying your submissions would only bring you in a tough position.
What facilities are there at NIT Goa? Can someone give a brief answer, keeping in mind laboratories, faculty, hostel, campus life etc. ?
I have a friend who used to be a student of NIT Goa. Based on the conversation I had with him, I can give you some information regarding the facilities offered by the institute.
- Labs: There are around a hundred computers that run on Linux and Windows in the CSE lab. You cannot expect Mac in colleges. The internet availability is nice. Wi-Fi facility is available in the main building and hostels. Classrooms have projectors as well as Wi-Fi. Other department labs are also well-equipped.
- Faculty: You should not keep your expectations very high because there are only a few very good teachers. But they are good enough to inspire you. There are some good faculties for cryptography and algorithms in the computer science department.
- Hostel: It is not that good, but it is manageable. It has Wi-Fi and a mess where no one eats.
- Campus life: The campus is nice and in a good location as well because it has a lot of greenery around. The present campus is a temporary one.
As it has been years since its establishment, students organize a lot of events which you will find entertaining.
Which college is better in terms of study, faculty, environment, and placement of CS branch - NIT, Srinagar (J&K) or Thapar University?
The CS branch of Thapar University has much better ranking placements, and faculty as compared to NIT Srinagar.
- Academic excellence: Thapar University has ranked 20 among the top engineering colleges of India according to the NIRF report 2023. This proves its academic excellence in terms of study, faculty, infrastructural ability, and placement as well.
- Faculty: The students will get an opportunity to learn under the guidance of highly educated and experienced faculties in their respective fields with an extensive understanding of the industry.
- Environment: Due to tight eligibility criteria and a high fee structure Thapar University has a good quality of students. Rajiv Rattan (IPS Officer Current Designation: DG). Vishal Narang (Assistant Vice President - Engineering at Aricent, Gurgaon, Haryana, India) and many more eminent professionals are notable alumni of this institute.
- Placement: In 2023 the highest package offered in placements was INR 40 LPA. The median package stood at INR 10.97 LPA.
So, based on these factors, Thapar University will be a better option than NIT, Srinagar. While both institutions have their merits, Thapar University is exceptional for its reputation for academic excellence, robust extracurricular opportunities, and cutting-edge facilities.
Which is better for ECE in terms of faculty, infrastructure, etc.: IIT Bhubaneswar or IIT (ISM) Dhanbad?
For ECE, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is a better option. The department has a good infrastructure. After the conversion to IIT, the labs are housed in the New Academic Complex. It is well-equipped with cutting-edge technology and facilities. Core Electronics companies such as Texas Instruments, HCL, etc. visit the IIT Dhanbad placements. Non-core placements are also good. Amazon, Microsoft IDC, Adobe Systems, Goldman Sachs, etc. recruit ECE students too. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 12 - 15 LPA.
How is the crowd and faculty at Reva University Bangalore?
REVA University has a world-class infrastructure and the campus is mesmerizing.
All the faculties here are very well experienced. Most of them have 10 years of experience. Most of them have a Ph.D. Every staff member is very cooperative with the students. There is no language barrier here.
They use projectors for students to better understand. They also take the students to industrial visits for better understanding. The student crowd is very enthusiastic and competitive, which results in good academic performance overall.
