BIT Mesra, even today is a premiere Indian Institution which was established alongside IIT Kharagpur in the 1950s. The alumni from BIT Mesra have made great contributions in their respective fields in the past. At one time, BIT Mesra had an admission criteria which was eventually scrapped due to unethical practices used during the admissions.
The reason why BIT Mesra has lagged far behind BITS Pilani is that it is not evolving with the fast-paced world. BIT Mesra is not making any significant changes in its academics to compete with other premier Indian universities.
BITS Pilani has adapted with time. Both the motivated students and the education quality at BITS Pilani make it stand high above BIT Mesra.BITS Pilani has no attendance criteria for its students. Even then, the students like to attend the classes due to a healthy teaching environment.
BITS Pilani was established by G.D. Birla in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Its academic program flowcharts are thus derived from MIT. BIT Mesra, on the other hand, has no collaborative backing as such. The practical learning environment at BITS Pilani stands much higher than the rote learning mindset at BIT Mesra.
The faculty at BITS Pilani is excellent in terms of knowledge, interest, and supporting nature. On the other hand, the faculty at BIT Mesra is not favored by the students. The students find the faculty at BIT Mesra to be very rigid and dominating which causes hurdles in a healthy teacher-student relationship.
To regain its lost status, BIT Mesra should adopt more modern learning methods, a well-adaptive curriculum, and a more supportive faculty like BITS Pilani.
The following answer is based on my brother's experience in IMI New Delhi from where he completed his graduation last year. He mentioned the various aspects of the Institute like placements, infrastructure, and faculty. I have summarized his viewpoint under the following headings
Overall my brother was very satisfied with the results of the placements and claimed his hard work did really pay off in the end.
IIEST Shibpur offers a good infrastructure to its students. Discussed below are various facilities available at the campus.
Air Conditioning: It is as per the departments to whom they supply air-conditioners. Some possess ACs in classrooms, some in labs while some in offices. This varies with the department. None of these is provided in the first year.
Sports:
Culture: The student culture is about to change as IIEST will take students from JEE Main or even Advance. Quite some time ago, the school always had a good share of other state students which was considered quite large for a government institute.
Campus: The campus is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in India and there are tons to explore. Seeing everything here needs at least a minimum of 2 years.
Flooding: The place gets regular rainfall due to The Botanical gardens. Yet, flooding is not a problem, usually.
These are the facilities that you can expect at IIEST Shibpur. Hope it was helpful.
IISERs get generous funding as they come directly under the MHRD of the central Government. Both IISER Bhopal and IISER Pune have state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities.
Therefore, it is not appropriate to compare the IISERs as they all have their unique features.
Amity University is known for its world-class campus and student facilities, including its hostels, sports grounds, gym, and much more. A friend of mine informed me that while most of these facilities are absolutely free for students to use, there are some specific services that either is for selected students (students who are part of sports teams, etc) or students are required to pay a certain amount to use it.
Some facilities like the gym also come with a monthly and annual membership fee, so students also have the option to choose from those. All these facilities are built up to international standards and encourage students to maintain an active lifestyle and learn team management. These are the main student facilities at Amity and how they are accounted for. All the Best!
The classrooms at IIT BHU are good in terms of sitting capacity and ambiance. There are three Lecture Hall Complexes at IIT BHU and each of them has 9 classrooms. Each classroom has a sitting capacity of 150 – 200 students and each classroom is technically equipped with projectors, screens, and speakers. All the lectures for the first-year students take place in the lecture hall complexes. The only demerit is that these classrooms do not have air conditioners installed, but the good part is that the classrooms are well ventilated so in the summer season too the room temperature does not go too high.
The classrooms in the ABLT complex do have air conditioners installed and the infrastructure of the complex is also very nice. Mostly guest lectures are held in the ABLT complex.
Each department at IIT BHU also has its own classrooms in which classes of the second year and onwards takes place. These classrooms are also spacious and all of them are technically equipped with projectors and speakers and can accommodate a maximum of around 50 students.
BITS Pilani has an overall ranking of 30 by NIRF organization in 2020. As far as I know from one of my friends studying there, BITS Pilani has quite a good Infrastructure and supports the best facilities.
BITS Pilani campus is growing and developing each day, so it can offer the best to their students. Though everything else concerned it has a better infrastructure than a lot of colleges around that area.
IIT BHU provides a plethora of facilities and is on the same level as all the other old IITs and also provides some facilities which aren’t provided by old IITs. First and foremost, IIT BHU provides opportunities to learn some of the courses and foreign languages from the departments of BHU. This is unique in itself. Hostels are huge and almost all of them are renovated now. There are beautiful lawns inside each one of them( where you could play football ), a tennis court or two, some pull up bars, etc. Mess food here is decent compared to any other college, not only the old IITs. Internet speed is quite impressive here. With the new Wifi system installed in the college, access to high-speed internet is ubiquitous and you do not require to have a LAN and a laptop. Wifi downloading speed goes up to 20 Mbps sometimes.
Coming to the campus, it is the second-largest campus (1400 acres) in India with a whole lot of greenery and nature inside. You’ll see peacocks randomly strolling on the roads and monkeys occasionally. The BHU campus is in the middle of the city, so you will have easy access to restaurants, cinema halls, and the main attraction of Varanasi, the ghats. Most of the older IITs are far away from the cities, so you have to struggle for the above. There are newly constructed departments with state of the art laboratories and lecture theaters. A two-story fully renovated and air-conditioned library has been constructed recently. BHU library which is one of the biggest libraries in India could also be used by the students of IIT. In IIT BHU students can engage in sports like football, cricket, hockey, handball, basketball, athletics, taekwondo, boxing, etc. Besides this, there is a temple popularly known as VT (Vishwanath temple) which is one of the major attractions of BHU.
Placements are quite good at IIT BHU due to the huge alumni base of this IIT. Almost all of the major MNCs and other recruiters come here to recruit.
In 2007, NIT Hamirpur was ranked as the best NIT in terms of infrastructure by the World Bank. It’s filled with natural beauty and has very beautifully designed buildings. There are more than 10,000 pine trees on the entire campus. The climate is usually pleasant and the view is breathtaking. I believe pictures speak more than a thousand words so here are a few photos of the campus
