Which exam is much tougher IBPS PO or IBPS SO?

MD
Meghna Deb Posted On : January 16th, 2021
MBA in Finance, Indian School of Business (2019)

The answer to this question is which exam is much tougher IBPS PO or IBPS SO, vary from candidate to candidate and even there are factors like competition, specialization and knowledge which decides the success in both exams. Any graduate candidate can apply for IBPS PO, but for IBPS SO a candidate needs to have specialization in particular fields for which they are applying.

There are a huge number of applications received every year for IBPS PO and generally a candidate is placed in fields like Planning, Credit, Operations,Administration etc after clearing IBPS Po. Whereas IBPS SO candidates after clearing the exams posted in specific fields like IT officer for IT Department, Agriculture Officer for Rural Department and vice versa.

The reason behind higher competition in IBPS PO is due to these reasons -

  • In order to get the post of SO a candidate compulsorily need to have a specific Educational degree in fields like IT, MBA or Agriculture etc. due to specific requirements of this particular job. But for PO only graduation is required which simply increases competition in PO and attracts more candidates to apply for the same.
  • There are a limited number of seats for SO which is upto higher levels only. While for IBPS PO the opportunities are infinite in different sectors which includes banking as well. That’s why candidates prefer to clear IBPS PO and explore the endless career opportunities.

So both IBPS SO and IBPS PO are exams of the same level, the only difference is the candidate's interest in it. Full dedication, hard work, right guidance and better preparation can help candidates clear both the exams with ease be it IBPS PO or IBPS SO.

How was your XIMB interview experience?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : March 9th, 2023
96.86 in XGMT 2019

Here's a rundown of an XIMB interview experience of a student. This is how the interview went.

  • Program Applied: BM, HR
  • XAT score: 96.86
  • Academic Scores: X/XII/B.Tech - 88.16/70.83/7.38
  • Group Discussion Topic: India should cut diplomatic ties with Pakistan
  • GD Duration: 5-6 minutes
  • WAT Duration: 5 minutes

The student started the GD second after a girl, and three people (including the student) dominated the conversation. After the GD and WAT, the students were asked to sit outside. Interview Duration: 15 minutes.

There were three-panel members, two old professors, and one middle-aged man. The interview panelists were the same for everyone. The middle-aged panelist asked the student to take a seat and AOP asked about the student's CAT/XAT scores. When the student revealed that he only applied through XGMT and not CAT/XAT, the panelists inquired about the student's preference for the BM and HR programs, to which the student answered that BM was his first choice.

The panel asked about the student's interest in HR. When the panelists asked why the student left his job, he answered, and the discussion shifted to his academic scores.

The panelists commented on the student's low academic scores and asked him about the reason for the decline. The student explained that the conversion factor made it look worse than it was, but the panelists pushed back and commented that everyone faced the same issue. The student countered that his semester marks were actually increasing and he enjoyed learning from real-life experiences.

The panelists then asked the student about his other calls, which he revealed. They also inquired about the student's preference if he were to convert all of them, to which the student responded. They then asked the student about his interest in HR and digital marketing, and he provided a detailed explanation. The middle-aged panelist asked the student if he had ever taken a loan, and the student replied that he had not, as his content writing company was small and unregistered. The panel then inquired about loan rates and why fixed deposit rates were low while loan rates were high, and the student explained the concept of banks using the excess amount to fund new loans.

The conversation then turned to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and the student could not recall the interest rates it set. The panel asked the student about his thoughts on Nirav Modi and whether his assets should be sold to recover as much as possible. The student replied that his assets should be liquidated to recover as much as possible.

Which is better: IMT Ghaziabad for marketing or XIMB?

AG
Akriti Gupta Posted On : May 5th, 2022
lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

For Marketing, IMT Ghaziabad is a slightly better choice. Around 40% of students got placed in the marketing sector during IMT Ghaziabad placements 2022. While the percentage of students getting placed in the marketing sector at XIMB is 14% only. According to the placement highlights, 7% of students from IMTG were recruited in FMCG sector. For XLRI, the corresponding figure was 4%.

Adobe, Accenture, HCL, Barclays, etc. are some of the major recruiters in the marketing domain at IMTG.

XIMB batch profile includes mostly engineers and almost 50% of the batch strength is from one state. So, there’s a lack of diversity and the networking opportunities are limited. Whereas, for IMTG, around 52% of the batch are from a non-engineering background and the students are from all across the country.

IMT Ghaziabad enjoys a locational advantage as well. Since it is located at the industrial hub of Delhi NCR.

Admission to MBBS at CMC Vellore is solely based on the score obtained by the candidates in NEET UG. CMC Vellore has two quotas for MBBS admission namely Government Quota (50%) and Management Quota (50%).

CMC Vellore MBBS Management Quota

50% of the MBBS seats at CMC Vellore will be filled up by the management based on NEET UG scores under three broad categories:

  • Open Category: Any candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply under this category based on merit.
  • Minority Network: Eligible Christian students can apply for MBBS under this category.
  • CMC Vellore Staff Quota: Children of eligible members of the staff of CMC Vellore can apply under this category.

CMC Vellore MBBS Government Quota

50% of the remaining MBBS seats will be filled by the State Government based on NEET UG scores in the given manner:

  • 30% of the seats will be filled by the State Government based on NEET UG as per the government reservation policy.
  • 20% of the seats will be for the candidates belonging to the Christian minority from the state strictly by the NEET merit list.

Candidates under both categories have to first register for CMC Vellore MBBS admissions on its official website during the stipulated registration period. Once the NEET Results are announced, the candidates have to sign in to the registration portal and submit their NEET roll number, score, and All India rank.

How are the professors at IISC Bangalore? Do they judge you when you ask them questions? Do they cut your marks in internals if you ask them tough questions?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : July 12th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

The professors here are really approachable and friendly. Let me narrate a few incidents that will convince you

  • A professor I know sets very tricky questions and on one such exam when the students were busy attempting the challenging paper, he along with some assistants started serving refreshments to the students. Later on, I found out that the assistant was a GOLD medallist from EPFL yet his humbleness overtook his knowledge.
  • You will be attending the seminars along with your professors who are always eager to learn new things. Despite being degree holders and having huge qualifications their humble attitude towards learning instills a sense of positivity in the students.
  • What amazes me the most were instances when some professors failed to answer certain questions in the class, and then they got back to you through emails with a properly researched answer. In fact, some professors even stayed throughout the night with their students in labs figuring out answers.
  • Their dedication level is extremely high as sometimes professors attend seminars even when it’s raining and they are drenched in the way.
  • The professors value every second and once I saw a professor eat a dry bun and a fruity just to save time.

Trust me, being a part of the IISc family will be the most enlightening experience you will ever have.

Yes, IGNOU is UGC approved, so masters degrees from IGNOU are acceptable for Ph.D. courses in top universities.

But to get admission you will have to meet the other eligibility criteria as well. The university will check your marks, rank, average, and age. As IGNOU is an open university, there is no age bar for learning any degree.

Are master's degrees from IGNOU acceptable for admission into Ph.D. courses in top universities?

PT
Parth Tyagi Posted On : October 20th, 2022
M.A. in Economics, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

It is not only accepted, but it also falls into the H+ category. The H + classification simply indicates that the degrees earned at this institution are transferable to the university sector. It has nothing to do with a preliminary decision on whether this institution's qualifications can be equated with German higher education qualifications. It should be noted that no equivalence determination or evaluation of higher education institutions in Anabin occurs on the Status down.

Contrary to popular belief, the question of whether a foreign institution corresponds to a German university or a German university of applied sciences is not answered. In the field of higher education, equivalence definitions and assessments are conducted solely in terms of final types and degrees.

How is Mumbai University?

OS
Omkar Sawant Posted On : March 23rd, 2022
M.Sc(computer science) from University of Mumbai (2020)

Don’t choose Mumbai University for pursuing a course. You should look for other alternatives.

  • The teaching methodology used by the university is outdated. You won’t learn the practical aspects of your subject. The syllabus isn’t updated.
  • The university website takes ages to load. You will need hours to accomplish a simple task of 5 min on the website.
  • Mumbai University exam and revaluation system aren’t effective. A friend of mine was declared failed in his university paper, due to their counting error. This is not an isolated incident. If you talk to the students of the university, you will hear many such cases.

In terms of academics, examinations, and other related factors, it is not a good university.
