How is AKTU for B.Tech?

HP
Himanshu Pahuria Posted On : November 7th, 2022
Student at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam University (2015-present)

One of my cousins is a student at AKTU (Abdul Kalam Technical University). She shared an incident with me which will give you an idea of this university.

During her semester exams at AKTU, she faced a challenging experience. Compiler Design is a subject in the 6th semester of B.Tech. Computer Science. On her compiler design exam day, the question papers were distributed 15 minutes late. It was a regular exam for the new semester. But what she saw shocked her. On the top, it was mentioned - Carry Over Theory Paper Examination. This was a back paper for students who are reappearing and not for regular students. Sometime later a teacher made them change the code of the paper and subjects. All the students were in a panic.

So if you are planning to pursue B.Tech. from AKTU, you should brace yourself for some major challenges.

Which is better in terms of fees and placements, SIMS Pune or SIBM Bangalore? Which one should I go for in terms of ROI?

AD
Aditi Deshpande Posted On : July 26th, 2023
Lives in Pune,Maharashtra

ROI should not only be looked at from the monetary aspect. Rather, ROI should also include the overall personality development of a student. This is because as an MBA student, one does not only invest money but also devotes valuable time for the course.

SIMS Pune has a lesser fee than SIBM Bangalore. For an MBA, SIMS Pune has a fee of around INR 10.5 Lakhs for general category students. The children of defense personnel are charged a lesser amount.

On the other hand, SIBM Bangalore charges around INR 19.1 Lakhs from Indian students of all categories. SIMS Pune has a larger alumni base and a greater industry connection. This is because SIMS Pune is very old in comparison to SIBM Bangalore.

In terms of ROI, SIMS Pune is better because of its lesser fee.

However, do consider these facts before arriving at the final decision-

  1. SIMS Pune has a 90% seat reservation for students of defense background. Because of this, general students have to score way higher in comparison to get a seat in SIMS. This affects peer learning and in an MBA, peer learning is what you do.
  2. Most coaching institutes such as Endeavor and TIME place SIBM Bangalore at a higher rank in the list of Tier-2 management colleges. This shows the reputation that SIBM Bangalore has created for itself in a short span.
  3. The placements at SIBM Bangalore are continuously increasing and have reached par with SIMS Pune. SIMS Pune is stagnant in terms of placements.
  4. The SIBM Bangalore tag has great value. Also, the location of SIBM B is a plus point, especially for those who wish to go for IT operations.
  5. Students from different backgrounds come together at SIBM Bangalore. There are ex-employees, freshers, and people from various educational backgrounds.
  6. SIBM Bangalore has a TEDx license, and Bloomberg terminals, all case studies are from Harvard business review, 12 clubs, and 12 committees, and there is an inclusion of courses on R, SPSS, tableau, and advanced Excel in the curriculum.

After considering all these points, I finally decided to go to SIBM Bangalore for my MBA.

Which is the better MBBS college of Mumbai - TNMC, LTMC, Grant Medical College or RN Cooper?

AJ
Aman Jain, Posted On : November 25th, 2021
MBBS from Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital (2025)

According to the reviews online, if academics are concerned LTMC is the best among all the others mentioned.

  • There is no doubt that academically LTMC is superior to the others.
  • They also have many cultural fests held over the years which are much more vibrant and provide immense exposure to the students.
  • In LTMMC the internships offered to the students are very demanding.
  • The hospital is crowded most of the time.
  • They have a huge patient load, which benefits some students but becomes tiring for others.
  • If you put all your focus and hard work in these internships, you will definitely miss out on studying.
  • Even so, it is preferred by most students as you will get to learn directly from the doctor handling the cases.
  • The internship builds you as an individual making you adapt in different situations.
  • The best thing about the internship is that you get to do a lot of BM biopsies, lumbar punctures, central line insertions , forceps-suction, cup deliveries, sebaceous cyst and lipoma excisions etc.

Most of the students feel that the internships here are better in terms of clinical practice. It gives you enough knowledge and hands-on experience.

How is life at VMMC for a med student?

NT
Nivedita Trivedi Posted On : September 25th, 2023
Studied at VMMC Delhi

The life of a medical student at VMMC is very hectic and full of chaos.

  • It's one of the largest and oldest hospitals in India with Asia's largest OPD so you cannot ignore the heavy crowd during the day. However, after 4, the crowd subsides and you will see the campus is actually beautiful.
  • Its central location has its pros and cons. You have many places to shop around and hang out with friends. But the flip side is it has less area for sports facilities although there are badminton and volleyball courts.
  • There aren’t any strict attendance policies and the academic workload depends on you alone. Some prefer studying right before exams while some can be seen always engrossed in studies.
  • The college has very approachable and helpful professors.
  • The Colleen promotes extracurriculars through cultural societies like Dance, Street play, Music, Fashion, etc.
  • The mess operates 24/7 and serves fresh and hygienic food. Girls’ mess is much better than boys.
  • The seniors are very friendly and guide you throughout your first year. They give you books, and previous year's papers and also help you with every trivial matter.
  • The college is ragging free.

Overall, the college environment is peaceful with occasional fun activities.

What is the CW category cutoff in the Delhi University? I have not seen the CW list published in the DU UG lists.

UK
Utsav Kamra Posted On : October 10th, 2022
Studied B.Sc from University of Delhi

The DU information Bulletin makes little mention of the procedure/selection under the CW category. Because there is no separate cut-off for this category, it is impossible to know whether one is eligible for the first, second, or third cut-off, and so on.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Report on time for your priority category in the central conference hall near the Department of Botany on North Campus. Keep in mind that no documents are required for the CW category, but you should have an education concession certificate in the same format as described in DU information Bulletin, and the letterhead should include your complete address and contact information so that they can verify your certification. In addition, you should bring the PPO, DISCHARGE BOOK/SERVICE BOOK, and all other related documents in both original and self-attested copies.

  2. If you have all of the required documents, they will give you a form to fill out with your information and preferences for colleges and courses in priority order.

  3. You will receive an admission provisional slip addressed to the college's principal, most likely from the Administrative Block/Conference Hall, with your name on it.

  4. When you receive the provisional admission slip, you have completed 80% of the process. After receiving your provisional slip, report to your assigned college with all of your documents in original and one set of self-attested copies. However, before enrolling in college, you must apply through the DU website student Dashboard. Take a printout of the same under the link that is still active.

  5. Once the college has approved your admission, pay the fee immediately. There is no need to postpone the process to secure your admission.

Should I do my MBBS from an above average government college or one of the best private college (KMC Manipal)?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 30th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

As a student of KMC Manipal, I will list down some reasons for choosing this college-

  1. The quality of education at KMC Manipal is at par with other top medical colleges of India.
  2. It has a very good infrastructure, even better than PGI which is an elite institution.
  3. You’ll get studious peers and dedicated faculty over here. Other than the curriculum, you’ll also be taught about all the latest developments in medicine.
  4. You’ll get good clinical exposure.
  5. KMC Manipal encourages undergraduate research. You can publish papers as a UG student too.
  6. The college has good foreign exchange programs.
  7. Your seniors will guide you on USMLE and PLAB.
  8. The coursework and teaching methodology is top-notch. With proper attention in class and routine revisions, you can get into AIIMS for your PG. Even for coaching, DAMS and Bhatia Classes are available near the campus. They hold weekend classes so your college studies won’t be affected.
  9. The college and hospital are quite safe. The classrooms and hostels are filled with all the facilities. Extracurriculars form an important part of campus life.
  10. The college is very strict regarding attendance, so you’ll grow into a disciplined doctor.
  11. Unlike many government colleges, KMC Manipal doesn’t have a rural service bond.

But there are some disadvantages too-

Manipal is very expensive, and the PG seats are even more expensive. Getting a PG seat is very difficult because of extremely high competition.

You should choose KMC Manipal over an above average government college. But make sure you are fine with the above listed disadvantages.

How can a student from poor family afford to study at IIM Ahmedabad? My father nearly had a heart attack when he heard about their fees structure. Is 25+ lakhs for a 2 year MBA program worth it?

Financial assistance options are available through government schemes, institutional aid, and education loans.

Funding sources to explore:

  • Government Scholarships: NSP portal, state scholarships, and minority-specific schemes.
  • Education Loans: Banks offer subsidized interest rates under central government schemes.
  • Institute Aid: Fee waivers and scholarships for SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories.
  • Merit Scholarships: Top performers receive tuition waivers based on entrance exam ranks.
  • TA/RA Positions: For postgraduates, teaching/research assistantships provide monthly stipends.

Contact the college financial aid office for specific schemes, eligibility criteria, and application deadlines. Explore all options before making your decision.

MBA from IBS Hyderabad or PGPM from IBS Gurgaon? Will the MBA from IBS Hyd worth its cost??

DG
Debashish Gupta Posted On : March 8th, 2022
MBA from ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad

Between these two options, MBA from IBS Hyderabad is better. However, you should know that the ROI for the degree isn’t that good. Due to the huge student intake, everyone doesn’t get the required attention. During placement too, every student doesn’t get placement offers. IBS Hyderabad placement highlights state the average CTC offered was 7.97 LPA.

If you are going to Hyderabad, you should consider other reputed management institutes like Ashoka School of Business.

Which should I choose: CSE at BITS, Goa or CSE at NIT, Trichy?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : July 19th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

I hope you are not the kind who evaluates and compares institutes solely based on their placement scenario. Here are a few things to consider while comparing CSE at BITS Goa and CSE at NIT Trichy.

  • Faculty: BITS Goa CS department has a better and more experienced faculty pool in comparison to the NIT Trichy CS department. BITS Goa has a thorough screening while recruiting and most professors are PhD holders from top colleges abroad as well from India.
  • Infrastructure: Both institutes are equally good in this aspect with top-notch infrastructure and facilities.
  • Peer group: The crowd quality is also similar considering that NIT Trichy being the top NIT attracts high-rankers while the no-reservation policy at BITS Pilani ensures only the best minds.
  • Brand value: BIT Pilani enjoys a better brand value because of its rich legacy and wins in this aspect although NIT itself is not very bad either.
  • Fees: This is where NIT Trichy takes the lead as its BTech one-year fee is only ?1.78 Lakhs (1st Year Fees) while BITS Goa BE first-year fee is ?5.72 Lakhs.
  • Placements: BITS Goa again is the winner here although, with excellent coding skills, you can get a great job in any of the 2 institutes.

So, unless you have any financial constraints, BITS Goa is the best choice for you.

I am planning to enroll in a BA English course in IGNOU. What is the procedure of the whole course and important things that I should follow?

RS
Rahul Sinha Posted On : October 19th, 2022
MA English from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) (Graduated 2012)

Opt for this course only if you are into novels and literature. Otherwise, it will be a monotonous ride. If you are planning to pursue BA English at IGNOU, you can conveniently work full time alongside. Instead of attending full-time classes, just sitting for a few will do it. Get your study material and go through it regularly. Don’t forget to apply for term-end exams. Exam applications come around March for the July exams.

You must also submit your assignment at the study centre before the last date. The questions for the assignment can be found on the IGNOU website as well as the study centre.

Before the 2nd and 3rd years consult your study centre and choose your desired course and register for it. Lastly, keep in constant touch with your study centre for regular updates.
