IIEST Shibpur placement for Electrical Engineering is good. Recruiters offering core job profiles usually offer an average CTC of around INR 5 LPA. Some of the major recruiters from the Electrical Engineering field that visit the campus placement frequently are Larsen and Toubro, CESE, Haldia Petrochemicals, etc.

What is the process to get admission into IIT Gandhinagar to study in cognitive science?
For the MSc. Cognitive Science program at IIT Gandhinagar, there are two selection rounds, a written test, and a panel interview. The application process starts from the 2nd week of January and based on your application (SOP and Academics), you are called to take a written test in the last week of February.
The written test is the same for everyone. It contains 4 comprehensive-type questions and 1 question on Data Interpretation. The paper is of 25 marks and one-hour duration.
During the interview, a panel of three individuals asks questions based on your branch. For example, if you studied B.Tech Biotechnology, you will be asked questions on it. Some questions are asked from basic Neuroscience and others are asked from the subjects that you studied during your UG.
You will also be asked about your purpose for pursuing this course. This is an important question that will increase your chances of getting selected among students from various educational backgrounds.
The selection rate for the course is very slim, around 3.3%. Usually, your GATE/NET scores are not considered and your academic record, written test performance, and interview performance are taken into consideration for selection into the MSc. Cognitive Science program offered at IIT Gandhinagar.

Which is better, a PhD at Jadavpur University or at IIT Patna?
My friend had options of Ph.D. from JU, IIEST as well as IIT Patna and still chose IIT Patna. She claimed that IIT Patna had a better research culture and the professors get work published in very good journals, A/A* conferences, etc. The professors motivate the students for the same and this aspect attracted him the most. However, your personal preferences also come to play here. So consider the following points
- If you want to complete your Ph.D. quickly, JU will serve you better.
- If you are ready to commit yourself to hard work and increase your publications gradually with your knowledge and time
- IIT Patna students get 2.5lacs per student to go to any conference at a tenure of 5 years.
- If you want to enjoy college life in addition to research work then JU is better. The college ambiance is great with a dynamic city life.
Choose IIT Patna for its research culture and not the IIT tag.

When comparing the money invested in the two-year MBA program and the median CTC offered at the end of the course, not even a single baby IIM offers a good ROI. Only IIM Amritsar and Bodh Gaya offer an ROI that touches the median slightly.
What should be preference order of IMT Ghaziabad courses- PGDM, PGDM marketing, PGDM finance, PGDM DCP, PGDM banking, insurance and financial services?
IMT Ghaziabad offers a variety of courses that cater to various specializations. These courses have been listed and explained in their order of preference
- PGDM Marketing/PGDM Full Time (Marketing): This is the most coveted program among IMT students mainly because today its alumni have acquired top positions in big firms. Other major reasons include top-notch faculty, great internship and placement opportunities in terms of role and CTC, IMT’s eligibility, and excellent performances in recognized marketing and strategy B Schools competitions.
- PGDM Finance/PGDM Full Time (Finance): This one is most suitable for aspirants who are interested in Finance. However, this program offers lesser opportunities than the Marketing program in terms of role and CTC.
- PGDM Full Time (Operations): This program offers opportunities similar to that of Finance. But the batch size of PGDM Operations is smaller than PGDM Finance, so it may be easier to secure an internship/final placement, but the opportunities come less compared to Finance.
- PGDM DCP: DCP or the Dual Country Program is for those who are keen to get international exposure. Compared to an MBA from a foreign university, this program is cheaper and yet offers an opportunity to explore a different culture and learn to make decisions in an international context. This is best suitable for those who are in the Marketing domain.
- PGDM Banking and Financial Services (PGDM-BFS): This program was launched in 2019 and is relatively newer. It targets the core Banking and Finance sector. While the MBA program aims to provide a holistic view of management, this program solely focuses on Banking and Finance.
- PGDM Full Time (HR): This is the least taken course and offers very less in terms of opportunities.
The courses have been arranged preference-wise so will make it easy for you to choose one.
How should I prepare for IBPS SO (marketing) interview?
To talk about the academic side, brush your knowledge that concerns marketing concepts, banking jargon and current affairs. Also, if the interviewer comes up with certain personal questions, make sure you answer them honestly.
I'd like to share my sister’s experience here with you. Her IBPS SO Marketing exam was conducted in Andhra Pradesh Apex College, Hyderabad. She reached the location on time. Make sure you do that too. Document verification takes place after that and after half an hour or so, her turn for the interview came. There will be other candidates along with you and they'd be allotted different serial numbers. You've to be a little patient in case your serial number comes up a little late.
The interview lasted for ten minutes. The panel consisted of 5 members, 4 male and 1, female.
The questions they asked included the following:
- Since she has completed her education, what has she been doing since then? - She told them this was her first interview and they further enquired whether she was placed or not. They also inquired about the gap as they were curious about it. She mentioned that she wasn't doing anything constructive, instead, was teaching in a local school. This left a rather negative impact and gave them a good reason to shoot even more questions.
- What does a Bank Balance Sheet include? (Answered)
- Define a Cheque and the parties involved (Answered wrong out of confusion)
- Name of the Union Commerce Minister (Didn't know)
- Define Priority Sector Lending (Answered in a local language - Telugu)
- Define Bancassurance (Answered, But along came a series of questions)
- Define GST (Answered almost everything about GST except what it meant at a surface level. They were very patient)
- Full form of IRDA (Didn't answer)
- Define Marketing Research (Answered, but wasn't up to the mark)
- Roles and responsibilities of marketing officers in the bank (Answered)
- Define home loan. Explain how she would persuade customers for it (Answered)
And with this, thanks was greeted and with a smile, she was told to leave. She was clueless about the results considering her experience, a miracle can only save her.
